Alright folks,

As you might know I'm Tapology Boxing editor. I know the majority of you guys are here for MMA, so was I originally. But for the last year or 2 there is a little more interest in Boxing on the site.

So here's a place to talk boxing.

Puerto Rican MONSTER!!

Not Berlanga!

Subriel Matias is probably my favourite under the radar fighter. He is a beast!!!
He's not super slick or technical, he just beats the **** out of you basically!!! Obviously it's more technical than that but his fights are pretty brutal! He overwhelms opponents (a bit like Joe Joyce but faster). He has a fantastic engine, almost everything is thrown in combination, constant pressure, he digs to the body and he has a great chopping short left Hook that he usually finishes with.

He really does do a tonne of damage, every opponent leaves the ring bloody, swollen and with broken facial bones!!! Unfortunately and tragically 1 opponent, undefeated Ukrainian prospect Maxim Dadashev never recovered from the damage and died after their fight.  This is unfortunately a pretty common thing in boxing and, obviously it can ruin the boxer who does the damage. Fighters want to finish fights but killing an opponent is the last thing they want. Matias has said that he now fights to honor Max and will dedicate his career to his fallen opponent.

Matias is about to fight for the IBF 140lbs World Title that Josh Taylor has recently vacated. I am pretty sure that his opponent will be 32-0 Argentine Jeremias Ponce who is another volume puncher, doesn't hit as hard, but still a great under the radar boxer(he had a big win in 2020 when he came to England and destroyed Matchroom favourite Lewis Ritson, beat his ass!!!, you may remember Rits dad throwing in the towel and the referee throwing it back out just for Ritson to get beaten up even more, more GREAT UK officiating!!)

Anyway, Subriel Matias, get to know him because he's an all action fighter and he's about to be Puerto Ricos newest World Champion very

Jake's getting an upgrade in opponent on paper. Only issue is he's older than Tommy and coming off a ko loss.

Since his 3rd or 4th fight Subriel has fought all winning fighters with good records, I didnt check how legit some of those records are, but he seems to have quite an impressive record.. He has a great physique too and I think I would guess he does alot of long runs and good fitness/conditioning training, I wish his lats/back muscles were a bit stronger and he would get more power into his strikes but he is still in epic shape he doesnt have an ounce of fat barely... It takes alot of stamina to put beat downs and such combos on other trained pro fighters, using a pressuring style, its easy to pressure for a round or 2 till you get tired if you are novice... Puerto Rico produces a lot of quality...

Paul is fighting his old sparring partner, a can crusher who was just brutally exposed a few months ago. People are saying Paul is going to have him take a dive, but I don't think he needs to.

**** all that though, the real fight to make is Jarrell "Big Baby" Miller vs. Jared "The Real Big Baby" Anderson

Jared's Return

Since we have a couple of Jared's fans here (quite right, he's great, USAs next best hope for a Heavyweight World Champion) thought I'd let you know when he's back.

He picked up an injury at the beginning of the Year. Unfortunate because he was meant to be the Co Main event at Wembley Stadium for the Tyson Fury Dillian Whyte card. Was going to face Christian Hammer (they guy Joe Joyce just beat the piss out of last Saturday!). Would've been an easy fight but the experience of fighting in a 90,000 seat Stadium and boxing 2000 miles away from home would have been great experience.

Anyway he's back next month on Top Rank ESPN card. No idea who the opponents going to be yet? I'll add it to the schedule when I find out who.
Good news that he is over his injury and getting active again soon.

What-- 'Big Baby' Miller?

A shot for the HW belts?

Nah. Big fat guy who got busted for PEDS and has looked worse since. Chisora-tier.

Inoue with the cover of the Ring magazine's February, 2019 edition. Historic moment for Japanese boxing as prior to Inoue they have never featured a Japanese champion even with the wealth of history the country has at producing elite champions. This is Inoue's first of two Ring covers.

Not THAT Big Baby!!!

Not Jarrell Miller bud. This guy Jared Anderson, the REAL Big Baby!!!

He is actually very good. Team USA Top Heavyweight but turned pro early because of the Olympics being delayed, was Tyson Fury top sparring partner for Wilder 2 and 3(rumour he did very good, almost Too good!). He is the rare combination of big & strong as well as athletic, has great footwork, switch huts, throws in combination, digs the body and has that little bit of nasty edge to him.

Of course he's not faced elite yet. But he's only 11-0 and is has taken out some top 40-50 types. Now he's moving on to the top 20-30 guys.

The only thing I need to see to convince me that he is World Championship level is can he take a shot.

It is almost always the final step for a blue chip prospect, can they take it as well as they can give it???

@Cheeseball Chocolatito only got a cover once he made his comeback but never when he was the pound-for-pound number 1. Donaire only appearance was a joint with mulitple boxers that included james Kirkland? 😂

Oh yeah, Anderson is good. Got thrown off by Mc****n'choke's post.

Yeah,  Jared is legit. Stopping fat blokes with body shots is the mark of a very serious puncher. Not easy to do. His pressure is crazy and he's as dangerous in the pocket as he is at range. Has the cardio to sustain it all too. Still only 22. He's a genuine prospect.

Until something crazy happened!!! KO'd by the invisible man!! Shattered his confidence, was never able to recover. Haunts him to this
