Alright folks,

As you might know I'm Tapology Boxing editor. I know the majority of you guys are here for MMA, so was I originally. But for the last year or 2 there is a little more interest in Boxing on the site.

So here's a place to talk boxing.

Yeah I agree and disagree a little with you there bud.
I agree that there is a tonne of talent in the lower weight classes. How many times have I posted about Chocolatito or all the Japanese fighters (most of which are under 126lbs) Ioka, Nakatani, the Shigeokas. Of course Bam!

About the Thais you mentioned, eh I'm not so sure about those records. Thais fight A LOT!!! In doing so they take on a lot of easy fights. Have a look at the records for half or more of Wanheng or Pradabsri opponents. You'll see some 1-4,5-3,2-8, even debuting boxers in there!!!

I'm not saying Thailand hasn't produced some great boxers, they have. Rungvisai is a great Flyweight, even though Bam destroyed him. Also Khosai Galaxy is an all time great.
But, yeah, some of those 50,60 win records are a bit iffy!!

I do actually think that the smaller guys are getting a bit more love.
Starting with the HBO Super Fly series that pushed Chocolatito, Rungvisai, Estrada and Cuadras (also Inoue US debut was on 1 of those shows.
DAZN have taken on that role of pushing the little guys. They have Chocolatito, Estrada and you can see how much Hearn loves Bam.
Top Rank have Inoue and Showtime have had some great 122lbs main events lately.

The little guy fights are there. Of course they will never get the shine of the Heavyweights or the Welterweights(that is the other division that has historically been a money division going back to Sugar Ray Tommy Hearns)

But yeah, I'm not sure what I'm saying now???

Point is,   The lighter weight classes ****** RULE!!!!

Just to prove my point about Thai fighters. Panya Pradabsri last 10 opponents, 4 were debuting (the fight after he defeated the mighty Wanheng for the WBC was a debuting fighter) oh and another guy he fought has vanished from the records!!!! It's just a blank space!!!! Ha

I wonder how many of those 0-0 opponents have Muay Thai and or kickboxing bouts? Hard to tell considering there's no dedicated record keeping site for Muay Thai that I know of.

Wilfred Benitez (The 5th King)

I posted about the 4 Kings the other day and I forgot to mention, like many other do, there was another all time great from that era who fought all these men(except Hagler)
Wilfred Benitez, 3 weight World Champion, Youngest World Champion ever at 17 years old!!! And 1 of the best defensive boxers of his era, maybe ever. When Roy Jones Jr calls you the best defensive fighter ever you gotta listen!!
This documentary popped up on my feed this morning, from the excellent Rich the Fight Historian (subscribe to his channel if you like fight history)

Anyway, What a Fighter!!!!

I recommend you watch this, many people don't talk about Benitez, it's understandable to be outshone by the other boxers from his era but he really is an all time great.

I will warn you that this story has a very sad ending, honestly I almost choked up at the end of this. These guys give so much in terms of entertainment but also their

I'm just pulling your leg Cheeseball! Ha..

Josh, it's kind of a myth that the little guys don't finish fights. Yes they don't tend to have the 1 punch KO power of the Big guys but you see a lot of KO's by accumulation.

I could name a whole long list of guys under 118bs with tonnes of KO victories. I'll just say that Chocolatito has over 40 KO's from 50 wins and the most destructive P4P puncher on the planet is Naoya Inoue who has fought between 108lbs and 118lbs

I personally like all the classes...
in box and especially on mma...
The smaller guys they have speed and they literally can fly around theirs opponents... ! Don't forget the smooth moves on the side from Lomachenko or the flying arm bar from Mighty Mouse... !

The rematch between Taylor and Catterall seems to be all but confirmed. Taylor's going to smash Catterall

The first fight wasn't that competitive. Catterall dominated the majority of that fight imo. Obviously Josh Taylor is really good so I can see him making the necessary adjustments to get a more convincing victory. I might personally do the unspeakable though and pick Catterall who should be the unified light welterweight champ right now.

Not competitive? Dominate performance? You can easily give 6 rounds for Taylor. Taylor got lazy and it showed, he wasn't blocking when coming in, wasn't framing correctly in the clinch, etc. but these are all thing Taylor can easily fix, and when he needs to make a statement he always has. This is going to be no different than Charlo vs Castano 2.

I might rewatch the fight later today and re-score it. If I remember correctly though the early to middle rounds were all Catterall than he slowed down in the later rounds.
