As you might know I'm Tapology Boxing editor. I know the majority of you guys are here for MMA, so was I originally. But for the last year or 2 there is a little more interest in Boxing on the site.
So here's a place to talk boxing.

I enjoyed the fight but I've certainly seen better. Having said that, I've certainly seen worse as well.

But yeah, the UFC card was 100x better entertainment! It's all down to matchmaking and it's something I wish boxing would sort out. Make 50 /50 match ups on your undercard. All you need to do is look at the betting odds and compare a boxing card to a UFC card. The biggest favourite on the UFC card is +350, whereas the boxing card is +2000 all the way up to +5000 favourites top to bottom! Usually the main event is the only competitive fight on a boxing card and sometimes even the main event is a squash match!!!!
It's so simple, competitive fights make for good fights. Good fights means good entertainment!!!

This weekends boxing
3 biggest shows, 2 on DAZN, 1 on Showtime.
1st DAZN card from Matchroom in Sheffield, England. Top 5 in the World Featherweight Kid Galahad defends his IBF World Title against 10 year past his best, lost everytime he's faced a good boxer, Kiko Martinez. There is no reason why Kiko should be fighting for a World Title! Galahad is going to easily win, no doubt, only question is if he stops him? I say yes!
The other DAZN card features 36-0, big puncher, all action, Mexican Jaime Munguia against Gabe Rosado. No disrespect to Rosado, he's a tough AF veteran, but he's going to get destroyed. Probably suffer a tonne of damage because he's too tough for his own good.
And Showtime has David Benavidez, 1 of my favourite young boxers, a guy who I really believe is a legitimate challenge for Canelo. He's really good! His opponent Kyrone Davis is maybe in the top 50, MAYBE!!!??? Fair enough he's a late replacement but Uzcategui was going to get destroyed too!!!
That's 3 main events, 3 squash matches. Only question is can they all get Knockouts.
How hard is it to make competitive fights?????

@Mikey
I'm looking forward to watching Amanda put on a show with her quirky but effective style.
If only they would give her (and others) the 3 minutes they're being denied!

3 minute rounds are definitely needed in Female boxing but Serrano is 1 of the few women who it would not make much difference. She already knocks out most of her opposition!!!
They are going to sell her opponent, Gutierrez, as being Katie Taylor recent opponent, went the distance with her. But if you watched the fight Gutierrez got battered and would have been stopped multiple times if not for short rounds and Taylor not being a puncher.
Serrano is going to destroy this poor girl, I'm almost guaranteeing a stoppage win!
Hopefully Serrano vs Katie Taylor happens next summer. I think Serrano wins that. The signs are looking good but in boxing the best fights are never straight forward to make!!!

From the relatively short time I've been casually following women's boxing one of the best things about it is that the best seem to fight the best more often than in the men's game. I might be wrong but it does seem like close and meaningful women's title fights seem to be more common.
And yes, we really need 3 minute rounds in women's boxing.

I think Lightweight, Super Welterweight, Welterweight are all Unified, Serrano has 3 of the 4 at Featherweight and Shields 3 of 4 at Super Middleweight.

Well, Canelo's record is an even deeper dive! You see, in Canelo's 8th pro fight, he knocked out Francisco Villanueva in the 5th. Francisco Villanueva famously out-pointed Jose Gerado Esquivel in a 10 round classic! Jose Gerado Esquivel had made a name for himself by knocking out Nicolas Lucio Arteaga in the 3rd round of a fight with and unknown and for all we know, possibly limitless number of rounds! Nicolas Lucio Arteaga himself once tasted success in a similar encounter by knocking out Gerado Gutierrez in the 7th round of a fight with no end in sight! Ironically, Gerado Gutierrez's debut was more well documented as he beat Ramon Sanchez over 4 rounds in his first outing. Ramon Sanchez then infamously out-boxed Jose Luis Montes in a 10 round encounter in a fight that possibly had spectators who were unrelated to either fighter. Jose Luis Montes's first taste of victory came against Simon Contreras in a slightly more understated 8 rounder back in 1989 (just to give you a sense of how far down the rabbit hole we've already travelled)! Simon Contreras then knocked out Juan Aguilar in the 3rd round of another fight with no specified end. Juan Aguilar's own career wasn't without it's highlights as he out-boxed Ricardo Ochoa to get the judges nods at the end of 4 rounds. Finally, Ricardo Ochoa knocked retired Ezequiel Ibarra in the 3rd round of their encounter. Poor old Ezequiel Ibarra never fought again after that devastating defeat in his debut but he can take pride in the fact that he will forever only be 10 fights removed from the P4P great Saul "Canelo" Alvarez!
