Alright folks,

As you might know I'm Tapology Boxing editor. I know the majority of you guys are here for MMA, so was I originally. But for the last year or 2 there is a little more interest in Boxing on the site.

So here's a place to talk boxing.

Anotha 1

is an even better win, Alexei Papin is still a top 10 rated Cruiserweight, who I personally rate highly. This was a great fight, both guys were hurt.

Hope Canelo team isn't looking at the Bellew fight and thinking they can replicate that. Bellew hits like a mule and the man was a great Cruiserweight Champion. His loss to Usyk is less about Bellew being bad and more Usyk is just that good.

Gotta say I am shocked to hear Canelo is going to be facing Makabu. (Cruiserweight is still 200lbs as far as I am aware, tho I have heard the 190lbs possible change)

After thinking about the fight for 5 minutes I think it's a dangerous but calculated risk. Yes Makabu is a BIG puncher and he's a legitimate top 3 Cruiserweight on his best ever run of form. But he's also a guy who Tony Bellew slept in 3(though Makabu did almost finish him in 2?). He's not exactly a technician!
I would favour Canelo to do his thing, take his time, work the body, put on a slow increase in pressure, get a late TKO.

But if he actually wins the WBC Cruiserweight World Title!!! Sheeetttt!!!!

Though I wonder what happens after? I'm thinking of Roy Jones Jr, who went all the way up to Heavyweight, but was never the same when he came back down in weight. That's when he started getting KO'd. It's alright moving up in weight but once you put that weight on its never a good idea to then take it off again as it seems to diminish fighters who've attempted it in the past

Also about the WBC Convention. They put off Tyson Fury vs Dillian Whyte!!!!

There are some powerful forces at work who don't want Dillian Whyte to get that title shot lol!

I was actually fairly convinced that the WBC would pull some **** out of the bag to not sanction Fury Whyte. I'm still waiting for the announcement of Fury as Franchise Champion! 🙄🙄🙄

Yeah Cheeseball, I did see something about Mayweather Chavez. I only looked at the headline then threw my PC across the room!!! So I don't know the details! Haha. I don't imagine anything comes of that, but who knows nowadays???

WBC Convention is basically an expenses paid holiday, all sorts of boxing dignitaries, boxers old and new, managers, promoters, journalists have a little cruise.

Oh and they sort out what mandatory challenger is due to face what Champion, but mostly they drink and exchange gifts/favours. Completely legitimate!!

????

No mate. He's never fought outside of Australia. He's moved himself into a high spot with the WBO, (he might be no. 1 now I think?).
But the division he's in, 154lbs, has a bit of an issue with the Titles. There was a unification fight for all the belts earlier this year, Jermell Charlo(IBF, WBC, WBA) vs Brian Castanon (WBO). Castano won but because he's Argentine fighting against the favourite in his home town he was given a draw! ********.
Anyway, that means that there's likely to be a rematch. So Tszyu wouldn't be fighting for any World Title til that's done.
In my opinion, he shouldn't go straight into a Title fight now, I think Castano would beat him comfortably, Charlo too.
He should go to Russia and face Magomed Kurbanov (he's very high in the WBO rankings too, no 2 I think). That's a much more winnable fight. He gains more experience against World level opposition. Also the fight would be huge in Russia because of his dad, Kosta is a Russian Boxing legend!

I definitely think Tszyu has a lot of talent and potential. But he really needs to get some experience out of Australia. I don't think it's a good idea to have your 1st fight out of the comfort zone in Las Vegas or a big stadium in Texas

The Greatest Greatest Performance

out that it was the anniversary of Muhammad Ali vs Cleveland Williams the other day. Couple of videos popped up on my timeline.

Honestly, this ****** guy at that moment in time was some fighter!!!  Yeah yeah everyone wants to say Thrilla in Manilla or the Rumble in the Jungle were Ali's crowning moments. Yeah of course, absolutely legendary ****!!! But, I can't help but know that the style employed by Ali, the Rppe a Dope vs Foreman, maybe the biggest puncher of all time , and a 15 rounds drag em out war in 100 degrees heat vs the hardest left Hooker of all time. All that damage lead to Ali suffering greatly in later life.

This Ali of the 60's is my favourite. So fast, so slick. Footwork unlike any Heavyweight ever!! And this fight here vs Cleveland Williams is peak Float like a Butterfly, Sting like a Bee Mohamed Ali.

Enjoy!!!

Buds a BEAST!!!

I hope you all watched Crawford vs Porter this weekend. A proper elite fight between 2 elite fighters, well maybe 1 true elite guy and a World class operator.  Porter did what I thought he would, he brought the fight to Bud, but he was also not as aggressive as I expected, he was switching up styles, going from the big overhand Right to stepping outside and trying to bounce in and out of range.  I actually had him winning at the half way stage 4-2. But Bud did what Bud does, he evaluated, adapted and overcome. Trust me, being the 1st guy to stop Porter was a statement and whatever you think about Porters dad stopping it, Crawford had Porter done there. He is the very best finisher in boxing today so Porter would've needed a miracle to survive and not end up badly hurt. I don't mind it, I understand if you do.

Anyway, I caught a bit of footage between the 9th and 10th round. Buds in his corner and he looks to someone (can't tell if its his cut an or someone in the crowd?). He asks "am I up?" he's obviously told"no, he's up". He takes it in, says to himself "he's up" as if to say we'll ****** see about that! Goes out and finishes Porter!

Boxing is ****e a lot of the time, but over the last month or so we've seen 3 of the best to do it put on masterclasses. Usyk, Canelo, Crawford, whatever way you have it that's 1,2 and 3 in the world right

Holy ***k Crawford is a monster and good cornering but that end gets you in the feels.
Porter had completely lost any composure dad saw it and said he will get beat down till hes out its over.
