That's the gamble you take with free agency. You really find out your market worth Jordan gambled that UFC was undervaluing him, it turned out he was wrong. Worked out for Davis, Thomson, and Henderson it will probably work out for Rory. Unfortunately some don't have the name power.

It's not a question of biterness it is a question of business. Accepting Jordan back at his previous contract when nobody offered him near the same would be like the UFC putting a big sign to every fighter to test free agency. Hey out shop around to see if someone will pay you more but don't worry you can always come back here at your old rate if it doesn't work out.
The thing about free agency it is great for established big name fighters and future contenders but for reletively unknown journeyman it isn't the best idea because odds are they already payed more than anyone else would pay them.

"would be like the UFC putting a big sign to every fighter to test free agency. "
They already did that with the Reebok deal.

Free agency will only work in the short run. The UFC has the brand name that will outlast all others.

Sounds like Diego Brandao has been cut. Good riddance. Wonder if he goes to jail, WSOF, or Venator?

Maybe if the UFC actually paid these guys like they were the NFL of MMA they wouldn't have to look for free agency in the MFL or whatever the minor league of football is.

The problem with MMA fighters is that they're stupider than other athletes. The fact that they've accepted the Reebok deal the way that they have is a testament to their ******* stupidity, when instead of going to Bellator they stay in the UFC because it has a "name" and "recognition".
When will these stupid ******* fighters realize that people pay to watch THEM, not the "UFC".

I'm surprised it took the UFC so long to cut Brandao after his latest stunt. I ran into him at the Cub Swanson/Jeremy Stephens Fight Night here in San Antonio right before he fought Conor and he was absolutely ******* wasted. He had people basically walking him through the parking lot and appeared almost completely incoherent, and ever since I wondered where his head was really at. The piss test for weed disappointed me but for a professional fighter, or anyone for that matter, to grab a gun and pistol-whip somebody doing their job? Its ******* outrageous and he is quickly becoming an embarrassment to the sport.

UFC just had to go through the PR steps of saying they are doing an internal investigation. Every time a fighter gets accused of something or charged with something the UFC has to throw this out there. Of course how likely you are to be cut has to do with your level of popularity and talent in relation to the severity of the crime.

He's just another faceless Brazilian fighter that I couldn't pick out of a lineup. Because of that he wasn't going to be a hot commodity in free agency regardless of his UFC record. There are going to be guys that'll really benefit from seeing their contracts out and others it'll be detrimental to.

I'm more convinced than ever that the UFC is coming back to Scotland (Glasgow?) again now.
It was a close but boring fight between Martins and Whiteford, but he is still in the UFC with a 2-3 record and Martins is out at 4-3.
Whiteford on a 2 loss streak and Martins snapping a 2 loss streak.
Whiteford, Ray, JoJo and I'm going to say Paul Craig is the next Scot on the roster - that will do nicely for the next Scottish UFC card.

Okay who gives a **** if you won impressively or not, you won. UFC cutting Martins and not Whiteford is just appalling, cutting a man for the simple reason that the roster is full doesn't mean **** yet you keep the the chin struck Gray Maynard, **** the UFC for making this decision, this isn't what the sport is all about. You can hate me all you want but if you win in the UFC, I'm pretty sure you should keep fighting in the UFC.

Yeah, it's garbage to cut a guy off of a win, especially in a sport where job security is tenuous.
