I went back all the way to the 20th page and didn't see anyone who started a thread about movies. If there is one, just let this thread sink away into the abyss of thread history, but if not, this is something we can talk about. We've got one for every sport, music, and TV shows. So I figured might as well.

M. Night made 1 decent movie 16 years ago and has been coasting ever since.
"If I have a goal, then it is to escape from this literalism. I'll never achieve it; in the same way that I'll never manage to describe what really dwells within my character, although I keep on trying."
I would say M. Night made one exceptional movie 16 years ago a few decent follow-ups started a nose dive with "Lady in the Water" and then crashed and burned with 3 horrendous movies and has now leveled back off to decent. He works better in the smaller more character focused films rather than big budget spectacles. Though I've heard he really didn't fully direct "After Earth" and that Will Smith had the majority of control over that production. Of course that doesn't explain the abomination that is "The Last Airbender" I think I hated that more than "After Earth" probably because he had a very good blue print and totally fumbled it.

I was 11 when I first saw the Sixth Sense. That movie scared the bejesus out of me. Unbreakable was decent, but how the **** do you not notice you've never been hurt or sick in your life? Meh.
Saw "Black Mass" I really enjoyed it Johnny Depp is exceptional definitely his best performance in a long long time and one of the best performances of the year so far. The Supporting cast is very good as well. The film itself isn't perfect but the acting is excellent.

Black Mass takes very little artistic license which is the big problem a lot of people have with the film. There are no good guys or even likable antiheros to cheer for. It's all about the corrupt and those who corrupt them. There are no real conflicts just here is the ******* who is Whitey Bulger this is the story about his relationship with the FBI and some corrupt agents.

The story is disgusting to think about. The fact the FBI would knowingly look the other way is a travesty. Part of it they try and justify it by his classification as an informant but there were guys who were just on the take protecting him as well. I think it's kind of Ironic Osama Bin Laden and Whitey Bulger were #1 and #2 of the FBI most wanted list and they were both in a way were able to rise to power because of the US government.
