I liked this post from Joe Lauzon on Facebook.

This was how he scored it.  I would like to see something like this put into effect, giving point values based on where the dot falls, but it might be too much like judging a fight on the whole to work for the AC's.

@Gregory Wait...you said GSP got crushed in round 2?

You HAVE to rewatch that fight, by ******* God Greg...

EDIT: Wait, Joe Lauzon too?

Holy ****, maybe I need to rewatch that round...

Why don't you tell Joe Lauzon that, too.  Look at his chart right above your post.

Here's what I remember as my stream of consciousness during round 2:

"Holy ****, GSP is confused"
"He's afraid to shoot for the takedown, he's scared of getting timed with an uppercut or a knee"
"Oh my god, GSP is getting blasted"
"Damn, GSP is going to wilt away right here, he doesn't want to be here"
"Wow, he gutted it out and survived the round"

I haven't rewatched the fight or the round, but that was my thought process.

"I live, I die, I live again."

@Gregory Why don't you read my comment that was re-edited a minute after I posted it and two minutes before you posted yours...

I still say you should rewatch that fight though. Joe Lauzon could definitely be wrong and I'm almost positive that I'm smarter than the guy so maybe Joe SHOULD rewatch that fight too.

We all need to rewatch that ******* fight ok?

EDIT:

Alright, well here was my thought process.

"Hendricks had a good first round, I wonder if he could continue against GSP."
"Oh **** that was a good shot, GSP might be in trouble."
"Nice recovery by GSP."
"Holy ****, GSP's landing that jab so easily."
"Wow that head kick was nice, he's going body-to-head and it's working really well."
"Hendricks is gonna lose this round, what a shame. He should've capitalize on his early opportunity."

Prediction: wrong Hendricks   wrong KO/TKO   wrong Round 1

Watched it again, and all my bias aside it was closer than I thought it was last night. No real robbery! I still think Hendricks took 3 rounds though.

1) The first was pretty close, GSP landed 1 more "significant" strike if you trust Fightmetric but if you watch the fight it is quiet evident Hendricks did more damage and clearly landed the harder shots. He also has the total strikes on his side.

2) The 2nd goes to Hendricks, closer than I had in mind but Johny won that.

3) The 3rd, again very close. Not that clear for GSP although he landed 10 more strikes all of those were leg kicks, the head strikes are even. Hendricks got the TD at the end. Very close but I could see that going GSP's way since I don't give a **** about a TD's when ya ain't doing **** with it.

4) The 4th was the most one sided round, Johny all the way. No questions asked!

5) And than there was the 5th, grappling wise it goes to GSP yet he didn't do anything with it, Hendricks outstruck him on the feet but I also can see that round going GSP's way just on control.

Johny won that fight as a whole, no doubt about it. Close affair with the 10-9 system but I still had Johny winning 3...

Every media member who scored that one agrees with me here...

a whole army of raging pro fighters on Twitter does the same btw.....

GSP gets a split decision but that's insane! Hendricks won that fight #ufc167

Cub Swanson         @CubSwanson Follow

I had Hendricks winning 3-2 😳

I took those 5 tweets here but there were like 30 more that all scored it for Johny, I took those 5 because they are all Jackson fighters...like GSP!

Most intersting aspect of the fight to me was that GSP couldn't get his wrestling going. I thought he would actually have the edge there. Also interesting how medicore his striking is if the opposite side doesn't have to worry about the TD. Johny out jabbed him with a crazy reach disadvantage. Georges had some nice kicks in there and a few counters hooks but nothing great really.

Don't get me wrong his striking is legit just not that great, people make it out to be sometimes. GSP is barely top 10 when it comes to pure striking in the WW division though.

Anyways no real robbery like I said, just a close fight that GSP didn't win. Still hold a grudge against Boy George but he earned some respect back in this fight....

Not only did I have 3 rounds, it would have been more a more accurate to give Hendricks all 5 than to give GSP 3 rounds.

The rounds that GSP won on my scorecards were barely wins. The rounds Hendricks won were pretty clear. I don't know why they say the first round was close. I had that as a clear round for Hendricks. GSP won the first minute of that round. Hendricks won the other four.

Anyone else notice last night how Hendricks looked much stronger then GSP in the cage? No wonder he **** tucked out of the testing prior to the fight!!

Regardless of how "close" the rounds were just look at Joe's chart.. GSP 3, Hendricks 2. That's mma judging ladies and gents. Round by round, not overall damage.

Plus he was hardly getting lit up as bad as everyone makes it out in round 2. GSP bruises easily as seen in his last what, 3 fights? He's been bruised up in all of em. If Hendricks was really landing hard and not deflecting off the forearms most of the times you don't think his "ridiculous power" would have finished GSP?

Looks like no one can agree who won any of the rounds. Everyone who thinks GSP won round 1 or 2 is fully ******** and might as well just stop watching mma.

Another great example of how inadequate and stupid boxing's system is for MMA. Fights MUST be judged as a whole despite what the idiotically shortsighted athletic commission's want.

Definitely not a robbery but it must say something about GSP's (or his conservative style) popularity to have a truly close fight so unanimously declared a robbery.

I would love it if fights were judged as a whole, it's never gonna happen though. But, even under the current system it's a stretch to give Georges any more than round 3 or 5.

Yeah the whole notion of 'to beat the champ you gotta decisively clearly destroy him' is ridiculous. We don't wanna see every champ go in into self defense mode and coast to a retirement like GSP. Just beating them should be enough.

Even with all this controversy, I thought the fighter introductions were improved. I liked the spotlight feel on each fighter, showing they were what everyone came to see.
