Shogun's not the same anymore. He's obviously on the way down. I don't see the big deal about this fight. Chael getting a title shot against Bones? That was a joke and everyone knew it. I actually think this is a good fight that could go either way. Prime Shogun would blast his head off, but we're not dealing with prime Shogun anymore. That was obvious when it took him almost 20 minutes to finish off Brandon Vera. If you're Brazilian and you want to fight Chael I can't say I blame you after all the **** he talked about that country hyping the two Silva fights. I'd have preferred it to be Wandy vs Chael, but this is a nice substitute. The last 3 fights Chael have lost were arguably to the #1 and #2 P4P fighters on the planet, especially before Weidman took Andy's belt. Chael is top level, but the champions are always going to be just a notch above him it appears.

Sonnen is the perfect fighter the beat Shogun.

Prediction: correct Sonnen   wrong Decision

Gustaffson took Shogun down a few times and Sonnen's wrestling is so much better than the Swede's. I like both of these guys so I'm just hoping its a good fight but I expect Sonnen to take Shogun down round after round and win a decision.

Sonnen gasses like always and Shogun starts to take over in the 3rd round and either finishes Sonnen in the 4th or 5th or wins a decision.

Let's see what training at Reign MMA has done for Sonnen.

Sonnen won't finish.  I think Rua can, I'm just not sure how.

If Shogun acts like his former self he'll win no problem. The issue is, he's so inconsistent that i really don't know where to go with this.

Really torn on this I'd like to think tht shogun can handle this but Chael's ability to get the td and grind out rounds has me worried. Like someone pointed out Gustafson took rua down relatively easy. I have sonnen now but I'm gonna change to shogun by knock out. Has chael ever been knocked out? Can't remember now

Just saw the clips of Shogun with Freddie; I'm nervous for Sonnen....

Shogun by Chael having the 2nd worst sub defense in the UFC (only out done by Melvin Guillard). I would say that perhaps my dislike of Sonnen was clouding my judgement, but I don't like Shogun either, so that can't be it.

Prediction: correct Sonnen   correct Submission   wrong Round 5

Sonnen has a rich stand-up game and more often than not shines in the clinch. In fact, the only time he was dominated while standing was against Anderson Silva at UFC 148. I think that this fight will either end in a submission for Shogun, a submission for Sonnen or a decision for Sonnen. If Sonnen manages to have his way with Shogun for the first few rounds (and that is a big if), I wouldn't be surprised if he submitted a battered and tired Rua. In fact, I will predict a submission for Sonnen just because it is much more likely than people realize (so I can brag in case it happens).

EDIT: No, I didn't mean that Chael's stand-up is better than Shogun's. It isn't. But he is very competent in that area, and Shogun's fear of Chael's takedowns will make a knockout victory VERY unlikely. Or at least that is what I think. Every time Rua loses a fight he rebounds with a KO, so I am not sure...

*Well, now that I thought about it, maybe not exactly "rich", but he does pose some interesting problems for his opponents on the feet.

Really hoping we see Shogun here. Plus can't ignore the 6-0 coming off losses with 6 KOs for Shogun.
