I am surprised that no one has started this thread yet.

I know this is an MMA website but I bet that there are some Boxing Fans out there.

I just love the sport of fighting in general and I have been raised by boxing.

So in this Thread we can discuss the "Sweet Science"

such as
Past Fights
Upcoming Events
Favorite Fighters
and Historical Figures in the Sport

Because like MMA in the US, Boxing started out illegal. But where it took MMA less than 25 years to gain the General populations approval, It took boxing over 100 years.

Discuss and have fun.

A nice little piece by Jack slack I thought I'd share on one of the few boxers I really know and love since I'm not an avid follower of the sport, just a sporadic visitor.

I like watching footage here and there to get a better understanding of the striking game and every now and then one catches my eye and I go digging up anything and  everything I can on him.

Alexis Arguello is one of them so imagine my joy when one of my favourite sports writers put this up.

I'd also advise looking up a few of his fights if you're not familiar with him, one of the most fluid strikers combat sports has even known, imo. He's also got a VERY interesting life story (sad ending though).

Also, as I said, not a boxing scholar, don't really know who's uber-famous an who isn't, so if bringing him up here is like saying "check out this Chuck Liddell guy, you're gonna like him" to an MMA fan, I apologize upfront.

My favorite boxers, among quite a few favorites, by far were Naseem Hamed and Roy Jones Jr.  I switched to MMA when The Prince retired.

Andre Ward announced he will next be fighting on June 20 in Oakland, CA. No opponent named. Hopefully he's actually going to be active now. 2 fights over the course of the last 3 and a half years is really disappointing. Particularly because he was only 28 before he started being incredibly inactive. Who do you guys want to see him fight in his return bout and who do you hope to see him up against later in the year?

Andre Dirrell makes sense to me for the bout in June. Hopefully Froch, JCC Jr., or GGG fight Ward later in the year.

Premier Boxing Champions is on NBC regular TV if anyone else is watching.

So far Peter Quillin aka "Kid Chocolate" is facing Andy Lee in a middleweight contest. Quillin did miss weight before the fight and so far it is a decent with Quillin landing a knockdown in the first and third round.

Later Danny Garcia defends his title against Lamont Peterson.

Now Lee drops Kid Chocolate at the end of round 7. Very good fight.

And the fight ends with A DRAW! Kid Chocolate and Andy Lee fight to a Split Draw. To be honest, I am not upset with it. Lee did comeback after those knockdowns and did a bunch. But Quillin did fight a very good fight but got caught a few.

I personally had it 7-5 for Kid Chocolate, but it was a hard fight to score.
Kid Chocolate got the early rounds but after Lee dropped him he did turn it around.

A draw was a fair decision in my opinion.
Hope they do fight again, and FOR a title this time.

Lamont Peterson vs Danny Garcia is on!
Should be a good show.

Damn Peterson packed on 22 pounds since the weigh ins compared to 15 from Garcia.

Peterson looking good early on. Not much punches thrown, but Peterson is working his footwork and not letting Garcia get off his shots.

Well Peterson decided to get more active and press the action, he did a lot of showboating near the end, and it did not really do much, for him or his case to win.

I think Danny Garcia pulled it off, but Lamont could get a decision here. But showboating don't count as points in my book.

8-4 for Garcia imo.

Majority Decision for Danny Garcia. 114-114, and 115-113 x2.

He remains undefeated and moves up to 30-0.

Well it is official. I will be co-promoting my very first amateur boxing event next month.
Should be a great night of fights, and it will be a night of entertainment. Hopefully this opens a few doors in the future.

This is the title logo for the event that my buddy made. The reason for the ACU pattern is because my VFW post is the group that is hosting the event. Let me know what you guys think.
