I am surprised that no one has started this thread yet.

I know this is an MMA website but I bet that there are some Boxing Fans out there.

I just love the sport of fighting in general and I have been raised by boxing.

So in this Thread we can discuss the "Sweet Science"

such as
Past Fights
Upcoming Events
Favorite Fighters
and Historical Figures in the Sport

Because like MMA in the US, Boxing started out illegal. But where it took MMA less than 25 years to gain the General populations approval, It took boxing over 100 years.

Discuss and have fun.

Wilder ducks Chagaev, Povektkin and all the other good heavyweights.

@GreenHornet Losing to Fury would do nothing for the American fan base. Losing to Wilder, maybe. It depends on how it goes down. Personally, I think Wilder has to KO Klitschko in the first 6 rounds or Wilder loses. If he KOs Klitschko in dramatic fashion and becomes the first unified champion in forever, he'll renew some interest in the States, but I think the Mayweather/Pacquiao bout is going to leave a bad taste in people's mouths for a long time. Wilder's got some work to do to overcome that.
@nomad Povetkin has a fight scheduled, but this is definitely a sad excuse for a title bout. Glazkov, Chagaev, and Thompson are all better opposition. This will be over inside of three rounds. Probably Wilder gets the 1st round KO.

@zarog No doubt.  That Mayweather-Pacquiao fight turned away a lot of the casual fans away from boxing, which makes Wilder's job of gaining traction and popularity as the first American born Heavyweight boxing champion since Shannon Briggs that much harder.  However, I wonder if (due to his connection with Al Haymon) defending his belt on Premier Boxing Champions will help build up the reputation of Wilder as the WBC Heavyweight Champion.

Apparently May/Pac could do well over 4M PPV buys. Jesus Christ. Would just SHATTER Mayweather/De La Hoya's record of 2.48M. That number is INSANE if true, and considering the reports came from Iole, I think it's very likely true.

I 100% believe that. Everyone was talking to me about Mayweather/Pacquiao because of how much I love combat sports, and that includes people who I would've never expected.

This fight was big. Really, *******, big.

Agreed. Kirkland's good, but Canelo's better. Think Canelo gets a clear cut decision, but it's competitive throughout.

Canelo said he would fight GGG if that's what people wanted. Hopefully it happens this year. GGG needs an opportunity against a name fighter than increase his popularity. If it does happen, I think GGG KOs Canelo. Canelo is too hittable and Golovkin is a different kind of power puncher.

it was a beautiful set up with the left glove just barely touching Kirkland's body making him drop his guard and then finishing him with the overhand right when he wasn't looking, one of the best KO's Ive seen in a while

How has boxing became the biggest ***** sport in the world? Anyone good not from North or South America is ducked. The best duck everyone else to stay the best. There's 5 titles in each division and there's a division every 6lbs...GGG is fighting basically a nobody at this point in his career, despite being overwhelmingly the best fighter in his division......because nobody wants to fight him out of fear of losing.

Amateur boxing is the epitome of boxing, people thought Sonnen was talking **** but he was on the money. Best technical skill, less rounds so much more exertion, no politics, no racist and nationalistic bias. The best fight the best because it's a tournament format and cannot be avoided, doesn't matter if it's Azerbaijian vs China for the World Cup. It's no coincidence that a lot of the best amateur boxers aren't blAck or latino, yet in America that's basically all they advertise and give opportunities to because they're the demographic.

I don't know what's going to come of boxing, but it sucks right now.

This is the formula of boxing.  It's very seldom that someone in boxing fights a whos-who of killers. Which is the reason there are guys with records of 30-0 to begin with. They're showcases, and, for better or worse, they happen all the time in boxing. Have you ever sat down and just looked at boxing odds? It's ridiculous. -2000's and **** all over the place. They do it as a showcase. No one will watch tonight for Monroe Jr., but people will watch to see Golovkin do his thing.

EDIT 2: But these British commentators are actually biased as ****, I want to smack them.

EDIT 3: Wow what a ******* fighter. GGG is insane.

Finally had a chance to sit down and watch Khan-Algieri this morning. Great fight. I wasn't really scoring it, but I'd say Khan deserved the decision even though Algieri seemed to land some of the harder shots.

Going to record Cotto-Geale tonight.
