The game plan for beating silva is pretty clear after the sonnet fight, only belfort has no way to execute it. Silva by destruction in a standup affair.

It seems to me like Belfort really has Silva figured out. Plus he's got a lightning bolt for a left hand.

I think Belfort will knock Silva out if he is aggressive.

@jeremycase what makes you say Belfort has Silva figured out? Since they haven't fought before I'm curious what you're getting at.

Could be another Silva stinker if he hurts Belfort early and Vitor climbs into his shell, but if Vitor attacks and tries to press the action, Silva will counter strike him into oblivion, not unlike he did to Forrest Griffin.

I don't think counter striking will be a problem for silva. He proved to have a solid chin in the sonnen fight.

true, but sonnen is no where CLOSE to the striker vitor is...sonnen stunned silva on the feet a couple times, imagine what belfort can do if he is able to connect.

another thing that stands out to me, silva hasn't faced fighters with good hand speed in a LONG time...his ko's in the ufc are against leben (SLOW) franklin (slow) nate the great (slow) james irvin (didn't matter, he never got to punch) forrest griffin (haha SLOW)...the guy hasn't faced a great striker yet..not saying he CAN'T, but he hasn't yet.

thats definately a great point, Silva has never face anyone near the speed of Vitor. I wouldn't be suprised to see Anderson lose, i think he's losing a little of his fire, especially going for a KO, specifically because Anderson loves to counter strike. he doesn't put himself at risk if he doesn't need to. Except when he's destroying someone like Forrest and sticking his chin out in the air like a ****.... either way, andersons going to lose to either Vitor or GSP

I think this fight will come down to how seriously Silva takes Belfort.  If he tries to play will Belfort by dropping his hands and sticking his chin out, Vitor's going to knock it off. If, however, Silva does start playing games with Vitor and Vitor can't land anything, is he going to start to crumble?  Vitor isn't really known for his strong mental game if the fight isn't going his way.

i think vitor has gotten stronger mentally, especially looking back at his last fight, vs ace...he waited for his chance and made his hits count...silva's gonna be in alot of trouble if this fight stays standing...a little part of me thinks silva MIGHT try to take down belfort and stay away from his strikes...farfetched but not a bad idea.
