Making an NHL only thread, because I'm sick of seeing the Peyton Manning thread riddled with hockey talk.

So fellow Canadians, REJOICE!

EDIT: And Americans too, we know some of you love hockey as well.

@anik that's probably how i should have put it. Would have been something to see him play next to Lidstrom all those years.

Who cares? A lot of people.

No one deserves a severe injury from an accident.. especially a hockey player.

And it's not a waste of time - thats how keep your all stars protected.

Stars need protection from other goons, the stars in basketball and football are fine without fighting. The nhl has to remove fighting but there scared fans will revolt, there in a tough situation because they have too.

Also when they remove fighting all the goons will be gone, and gameplay will improve also.

You're comparing basketball and football and they are not comparable at all. Hockey has been grown under completely different ethics and foundations than Basketball or football.

And whats wrong with fighting? Are there fixed moral laws saying youre not allowed to fight? It's something unique to Hockey.

The problem is most of the fights are pre arranged between each others teams goon because they have to earn there cheques. Most all of the hockey fights are not fought over emotion, so it's like watching some sort of wwe on ice.

I don't see fighting as a problem  for hockey, and I don't think in this case has anything to do with bad sportmanship, is just part of this sport

I don't see why it's such a problem to have fighting in hockey, if it's not there then you have chicken****s like Matt Cooke running around being stupid and hurting people. I'd prefer to not see the big goofy ******s like John Scott in the league because they don't do anything besides fight, but i don't have a problem with a tough guy who can score occasionally and actually have the ability to play the game in the league. I don't see how those guys hurt gameplay either, those big goon types don't really play that much.

Matt cooke has hurt many people with fighting in the game, makes no difference.Either way like it or not fighting was in hockey to appeal to fans to fill arenas back in the 60s and 70s, in this day and age it's slowly on its way out, its a sideshow in a pro sport that's becoming an embarassement.

Avs fan right here! Hockey in Colorado has been dead for the better part of 5 years around here. With the way the team played last night and the incident at the end (classic Patrick Roy) hockey and The Avalanche are back!!!
