I saw that on the Wings' FB page...i can't believe it's been 15 years. I always think about the player Vladdy could have been, was so sad when he had that accident.

@Soccer, I would expect nothing less from a Colorado native.  Roy being hired as the Avs coach helps me hate them again, although they won't play as much with the Wings moving to the Eastern Conference.

It's cause #1 Roy has been an amazing coach at the QMJHL level recently. #2. Saint Patrick is still loved here in Colorado. Like Roy said in his introduction press conference he looked up all the stats and 100% of the greatest coaches in any sport once were rookies

why the **** did Seth Jones fall to 4th overall?

Pretty sure it's 'cause he's black but honestly, watch the man play. I'm gonna start calling him Negronger 'cause he plays like ******' Chris Pronger.

Also, nice to see Max Domi get drafted at 12th overall 'cause I've been following his career since he was 14. 

Another guy I've been following for his entire career was Anthony Mantha who got drafted at 20th overall, nice to see a former classmate hit it big time..especially with a team like the Detroit Red Wings.

I can't say that i knew who Mantha was, but his stats (especially his most recent season) are pretty impressive. He'll probably be playing in GR this year or next if he's done with juniors.

Jones falls to four, because scouts and GMS know not to pick D-men first overall. I was not surprised. Tallon does not draft D-men usually, and Barkov is amazing. He is trying to build the team down the middle. Also, Yzerman was obviously set on having Drouin play with stamkos, once hes developed.

Anthony Mantha is the best goal scorer, but he got picked all the way at 20# because he is not a big time player, and gets criticized for his lack of motivation and competitiveness.


For me, and a couple of my buddies agree, Bo Horvat is a dark horse. Was ranked out of the top 10, but he is a damn sick player. Good on the Canucks drafting him.

And for me, Nichushkin is a wasted pick at 10 for the Stars. He may be the next Rick Nash, but he has said he is not willing to go into the AHL to develop if he doesn't make the team, he'll go play in the KHL. That will most likely happen.

Defenseman take a while to develop. Jones is a stud but he won't make a huge difference until a few years in. The last Defenseman that made it to the H.O.F. that was drafted #1 was in 1973 in Denis Potvin. The Avs may go from worst to first this year. Don't be surprised.

And to add on to P4P point, if you look at all the top D in the league right now, none of them, besides Drew Doughty, were taken in the top 10. Infact, Weber, Subban, Letang, Chara,  weren't even taken in RD 1
