As opposed to fights that changed a man's fighting style (GSP vs. Serra, for example), what fights most changed a fighter's will? The fights that broke a fighter's spirit, and forever changed their career. Where they never came in as the same fighter they used to be.

Penn vs. Sanchez, because, well, have you seen Sanchez fight since then? Yeah, that's why. He's never looked as determined. Just broken.

Silva/Griffin, because Forrest quit caring about fighting after that. The 2 Franklin fights because Rich was fighting for second place after that, and he knew it. He just never came out with the same tenacity again.

Penn beat the Nightmare up so bad he became a Dream.

P.S.  He lost to Kampmann.

tim sylvia was beating big nog pretty good through 2 rounds of their title fight... if he hangs on to win, he goes on to rematch with frank mir and MAYBE gets demolished by lesnar at ufc 100... instead, he gets quicktapped by a nog guillotine and is subsequently fired from ufc...he then goes on to be ko'd by fedor and then KTFO'D in embarrassing fashion by 40+ ray mercer..

in the same sense, andrei arlovski was doing better against fedor than anyone else in a long time... he actually hurt the "last emperor" a few time if i remember correctly.... until he leaps face first into fedor's right hook of doom.. after that, he gets ko'd in 22 seconds by brett rogers, loses a decision to bigfoot silva, and then gets ko'd by kharitonov...
