Predictions: 2 of 6 Winners, 1 Perfect, 150 Points   |   Tied for 4997th

Ankalaev vs. Walker II
Johnny Walker, TKO, R2
Why not, now that there is some real tension between those two, it adds a lot to this matchup. Poor Ankalaev tho, his UFC career is getting weirder and weirder. He looked a bit foolish when he got angry at Walker after HE landed the blatant illegal shot. I hope he loses this in brutal fashion, as a humbling lesson.

Arlovski vs. Cortes-Acosta
Waldo Cortes-Acosta, TKO, R2
It would be awesome if Arlovski still has a close controversial grinding split decision win in him, but I'm afraid it's the end of this legendary late resurgence.

Basharat vs. Lapilus
Taylor Lapilus, DEC
Interesting fight. Lapilus is technically great, and kind of an athletic freak with good reach and super long legs (his leg kicks are some of the best in the division IMO), but he really lacks some urgency, power and killer instinct to climb in the rankings. He's still a work in progress tho, and this fight against a dangerous and promising Basharat will answer a lot of questions to me.

Predictions: 9 of 11 Winners, 5 Perfect, 665 Points   |   Tied for 144th

Ankalaev vs. Walker II
Magomed Ankalaev, TKO, R3
Walker showed big improvements especially in his fight against Smith. More calculated, not mindlessly trying to get that KO in R1. But Anklaev is too tough, I see Walker with more patience, enough patience to get thru the first two rounds but getting KO'd in the 3rd or 4th round. Magomed too dangerous and Walker's chin not to be trusted

Simón vs. Bautista
Mario Bautista, DEC
Bautista on the way to the top

Nicolau vs. Kape II
Manel Kape, DEC
Trusting Kape hard here

Hawes vs. Ferreira
Brunno Ferreira, TKO, R1
Hawes is a good striker but that chin not holding up

Gabriel Santos

Predictions: 5 of 5 Winners, 3 Perfect, 400 Points   |   Tied for 3997th

Am I being overly paranoid?
Watched more tape on Westin and he's actually decently threatening off his back. Vs. a single leg he's quick to snap the guillotine in, his butterfly guard and chokes have an advantage because of his length.
Santos shoots many TDs and many single legs, allowing Wilson to at least have a chance of getting a sub.

I suppose I 'should' assume Santos has the BJJ skill to nullify any threats coming from bottom. Maybe my concerns are unwarranted

Nevermind actually I found what I was looking for -

Santos fought Elvis Brenner and in round 1 Gabriel was on top with Elvis butterfly guarding, throwing up a variety of sub after sub to which Santos already was a step ahead with his counter defense.

Why can't the UFC rebook Ankalaev/Walker 2 for 297 and set Jiri/Rakic for 298?

They more than likely already had UFC 297, and 298 already fully built on paper.

Earliest date open was probably that UFC Fight Night event for the magnitude of the fight

+ don't think UFC wanna start 2024 off with horrific Fight Night cards.

Prediction Comments

Predictions: 7 of 11 Winners, 3 Perfect, 490 Points   |   Tied for 2697th

Ankalaev vs. Walker II
Johnny Walker, TKO, R2
Anka is gonna come like a maniac in order to finish Johnny, (I don't know why, cause he was the one who should get punished for that ilegal strike), but I guess Walker is gonna find a way to chin him. Cautious Walker is a new mythical fighter, believe me !

Nicolau vs. Kape II
Manel Kape, TKO, R2
Since Kape went against Adesanya in that press conference, I became a fan of him. Nicolau has chin issues, and I think Kape can find a TKO in this one (it won't be that much quick like Royval did, but still).

Hawes vs. Ferreira
Brunno Ferreira, TKO, R1
Hawes sleeping with the angels in this one. LFG Hulk !

Arlovski vs. Cortes-Acosta
Waldo Cortes-Acosta, TKO, R2
Acosta is not a bad heavyweight, and I've already went against him, but not in this one. Arlovski is done.

Basharat vs. Lapilus
Farid Basharat, DEC
I'm intrigued. I gotta go with Farid, but Lapilus is a tough task. Caolan didn't have success in the wrestling against Taylor, but I think Farid has better entries and is a better grappler overall. I can't fade the Basharat bros. At least, not yet.

Best choice for the UFC is to cancel UFC Vegas 84 and rebook the fights for later dates.
Ankalaev/Walker works well on 297.
