Saku couldn't beat Rich Franklin if Franklin walked into a plane propeller the night before

Sakuraba would take him down and submit him in under a round.

i'd pick Saku by a close decision. Ace has never been subbed, and i don't think even Sakuraba could do it. It'd be close, could go either way, but i'd pick Sakuraba to win.

Assuming they are both in their primes then i would have to agree with Minotauro! Maybe not in under a round but i definitely think Sakuraba would sub Franklin

He submitted Renzo! Pretty sure Renzo's submission defense is a little better than Rich's.

pretty sure Franklin is a better mixed martial artist. Saku was great for his time, just like Royce Gracie, neither of them could beat a single UFC fighter today. I mean Sakuraba had like a good 6 fight stretch back in 1999, when nobody hardly knew anything, then he proceeded to get his ass beat almost every time out for the past decade. The thought that Sakuraba could beat somebody like Franklin is asinine.

Oh how you guys under estimate Sakuraba. I don't know if you guys realize how big of a deal it was when he was beating the Gracies, when that actually meant something, AT THEIR OWN GAME! It was mind blowing, those guys were like automatic death traps on the ground, if you took them down, they would submit you. He took them down, and submitted them! He evolved the game, mixed an awkward style of wrestling with amazing submissions. His low single was incredible, he took down Igor Vovchanchyn! A heavyweight!

It doesn't matter Mino, you are severely overestimating him. I don't know what is so hard for people to grasp about people at the beginning of the sport, people didn't know ANYTHING. His skill didn't diminish to the point of being able to beat Rich Franklin to the point he's getting his ass beat by Yan Cabral, whoever the **** that is. If Sakuraba, even at the best he ever was, you drop him in the cage with a fighter today, he doesn't even know half of the techniques that these fighters today have spent years learning the intricacies of, why because people didn't even know about them. Sakuraba would get his **** pushed in by Rich Franklin, hell Jorge Rivera could put a prime Sakuraba in his grave. It's baffling that people can't deduce this. It's almost like a lifelong math teacher looking at a list of timetables and not be able to figure it out.

Sakuraba has beaten fighters with better TDD than Rich and he has subbed fighters who are much better BJJ practitioners than Rich......! I like Franklin but as far as the styles match up,I think Sak takes it.

He choked out Rampage, beat a bunch of Gracies, and has some big wins. The guy fought much larger competition for a good part of his career. Stating that he's not a legend is completely asinine. I'm not even a big fan of his, but he's a legend in his own way, one of the best of his time.

He choked out Rampage in 1999! When Rampage knew probably 1 millionth of what he knows now. He didn't beat the Vitor or Rampage of today, he beat completely different fighters, THIS IS SIMPLE.

Never claimed anything close to him not being a legend, he is. But that doesn't mean he could even beat CB Dollaway in his prime, because he couldn't. CB would go HAM on the guy.

Why do you PRIDE haters fail to understand why they aren't good anymore? It's not because the game evolved past him, it's because of his age and the crazy Japanese matchmaking. He fought killers like Cro Cop and Wanderlei Silva, Igor Vovchanchyn, etc. That will obviously have an effect on your long term career.
