We all know who would win if we did just a single WW or MW tournament so let's combine them. Even though I'm pretty sure who's going to end up in the finals maybe we'll get an upset or 2 along the way! This is what I have so far no order As always changes are welcome

  • Anderson Silva
  • Georges St. Pierre
  • Matt Hughes
  • Rich Franklin
  • Nate Marquardt
  • Jake Shields
  • Pat Miletich
  • Jon Fitch
  • Josh Koscheck
  • Kazushi Sakuraba
  • Frank Shamrock
  • Nick Diaz
  • Hayato Sakurai
  • Evan Tanner
  • Yushin Okami
  • Chael Sonnen

@messiah considering that Royces prime was 20 years ago, i don't really think that you can make a statement that says Royce couldn't beat a UFC fighter in his prime.

I'd certainly beg to differ. Royce never had striking, wrestling, anything other than JiuJitsu. It was just that no one else knew anything about it or how to defend it. Now people know MMA jiujitsu far better than Royce even did back in 1990. But they are also so well rounded in other areas. I almost even threw BW's and FW's in there too but there might be one or two that Royce is just simply too big for.

Guys like Shinya Aoki have kinda shown that you can beat guys with a pretty one dimensional game so i think Royce Gracie in his prime could beat some guys in the UFC but i don't think he could beat anyone top ten.

@justynbomar No disrespect to Royce but his striking is nowhere NEAR the level of Aoki's.

Yup. That striking.

Fitch losing to Nick Diaz and Frank getting blown out by Chael makes me cry inside, for the sake of the Tapology community.

Sad that Tanner is losing to Hughes.  I have no doubt at all that if they had met in their primes Tanner would have whooped him.

Once again Im treating this as if all fighters were the same weightclass

Silva over Kos
GSP over Okami
Hughes over Tanner (would be a very close fight)
Franklin over Marquardt
Shammy over Sonnen, yeah I went there
Saku over Mach
Miletich over Shields
Diaz over Fitch

How the **** is Rich Ace Franklin not murdering Marquardt in the votes? Do people not remember a damn thing about Franklin? To be honest, Rich destroys just about anybody on this list not named Anderson Silva. If you don't have Franklin as the second greatest MW of all time, you're just wrong.

@Nik He's also only lost two fights at MW, ever. Both to a man named Silva. He also happens to be old and beat up. The man was the greatest middleweight in history until Silva came about, and he destroyed basically everyone they put in front of him. I don't see how losing at catchweight and Light Heavy should influence your position of greatness at MW.

Edit: He also beat a deal of the names on this list.

A big wave of talent came around the same time Anderson Silva did.

Before then, Franklin didnt have any tough competition besides Evan Tanner.
