Speaking of Jamie Quinn, I read this interesting article about him the other day. Not exactly a new one as it's from 2020 but he basically talks about how he ended up becoming a journeyman and dealing with people viewing him as a bum. It's short but quite an interesting read!

I've said it to you before but I love these guys. Stories like that are cool AF. They get labelled bums but they're some of the toughest folk in boxing

One thing I hadn't realised about the structure of boxing until reading that article was that early in their careers, their success can largely be due to how good a ticket seller they are in order for promotors to have them on their shows. I knew this was a thing in lower level MMA so I don't know why it didn't occur to me that it would happen in boxing as well. Makes you think how many great boxers were overlooked because they struggled with putting themselves out their like Jamie Quinn said he did. Who knows, maybe if Jamie Quinn were better at selling tickets early on then maybe he'd have had a much different career. Maybe the promotors would've treated him right and built him up properly so he could improve and maybe pick up some regional titles like he originally aimed to. Sad to think about but at least he'll go down as one of the great journeymen of British boxing.

There's an alternate world where Jamie Quinn has a dedicated local backing and a nice padded 16-0 record and he's headlining at the Oldham Leisure Centre defending his British Central Area Title!
