"Spider belt in ******ation" cracked me up lol! All I did to get it was just pick loads of the smaller regional shows over the course of about 2 years. Generally speaking, those cards are easier to pick as there are tons of mismatches down at that level. Picking the boxing as well, you usually find most cards are full of mismatches so the Spider belt just an accumulation of points as the result of picking lots of low level mismatches. It's not really an achievement, it just happened because I like to learn about the lower level stuff and enjoy taking guesses as to who will win them. It's certainly not representative of my knowledge, that's for sure lol!

Went to my first wrestling practice in grade school only to find out there was no turnbuckle for me to drop kick or flying elbow my brothers from. Highly disappointing. I was no longer interested in that fraudulent thing peons call âpro wrestlingâ. Though they were skilled stuntmen, **** wasnât for me. Year later wrestling in HS MMA came out and there was this Gracie cat breaking arms of much bigger dudes. Guys like Severn and Coleman intrigued me coming from wrestling backgrounds. Got lost in life and other activities after hs(95) and faded out but checked back here and there. Years later, like maybe 2002-4ish started coming back to it and have not left this time. Now in my mid 40s I still love it. Actually getting back in shape and very recently started jujitsu. Hence cutting the booze. Itâs very humbling in all the right ways. I get mauled routinely and love it. ****s kinda giving me something to give af about again. Wish I started earlier. I loved Rountree post fight, as I was over 310lbs at one point too after injuries and living wrong. Stopped making excuses and got to the gym. Iâm 6â and 220 now.

From Boston.
My brother tried to get me into MMA when I visited him and he ordered the UFC 44 pay per view. I thought it sucked... Couture just smothered Tito for the whole fight and from what I could tell, nothing really happened. But then later on he showed me the Smashing Machine documentary about Mark Kerr and I thought that was pretty compelling. Then when I saw the promo videos for Pride 28 I got hooked on the storyline of Rampage and Silva rematching. And then the fight was awesome and I became a fan.

I started watching MMA on VHS when the first UFC videos came out - the "wild west" days. My biggest surprise as it has evolved is how much more predominant the standup game has become. After the success of Royce Gracie, Dan Severn, and Oleg Taktarov, I thought that the future of MMA would be "grappling, with some striking involved". As things have gone, it's become "striking, with some grappling involved" - albeit, of course, with some blatant exceptions. Still loving it.

Watching old PrideFC on The Fight Network (A Canadian television network that is dedicated to all forms of combat sports.)
I remember being stoned out of my mind, and these two men start punching each other in the face and didn't stop for what seemed like an eternity. That was Don Frye and Takiyama. Would have been around 2006.
