Russian invasion of Ukraine thread.

I'll post what's happening as it comes through for purposes of posterity. Doubt the veracity of what is posted here. Having lived through the Iraq war, I am sure that the vast majority of what gets reported will turn out to be either misinformation or outright ********. Posting because a lot of non-Australia members will be asleep, now. I'll report as much as I can.

So far the g****vine is:

Russia has indeed embarked on a full scale invasion of Ukraine. Air attacks, and ground forces. There has been at least one missile strike, there have been front-line Ukranian casualities ( have seen video, cannot post it here, too graphic).

Belarus has thrown in with Russia/is issuing support.
Reports of Ukrainian air defence having shot down multiple Russian planes, either drones or fighters.

Yes. China will be licking its chops right now. If Allied forces just let this happen it will be all the proof China needs that it can roll over Taiwan.

True. It was said by some US goverment guy I believe that Ukraine can hold from 3 to 7 days maximally. I don't know what Russia has to do to have NATO interfering militarly in it. I just hope Russia gets its ass whooped economically. Cut them the **** off. 

I wonder how Russian families will react when they hear their fathers and husbands are coming back.. dead. With that ****** Russian propaganda there is a chance they will believe they were defending Russia from Ukraine or something..

I apologise for being wrong in this situation. I thought it would just amount to threats and i was clearly wrong. I suppose i put to much faith in the west actually doing something in response to this but here we are. The UN continues to prove itself the most useless organisation on the planet and NATO sits there picking daisy's. Oh but it's all ok because the might not host the champions league final or some ********. This opens up a can of worms most wouldn't believe and to me marks the true end of Pax Americana 

Even tho Ukraine is not connected directly to most of those organisations, it still shows lack of reaction from NATO etc. 

The UN was an organisation set up to keep the status quo and stop war and conflict between nations, this **** is the exact stuff the UN was supposed to stop. No doubt they'll send in some "peacekeepers" to clean up after all the people have been killed. **** Russian and **** the UN

Something that nobody seems to be talking about is How Ukraine is actually one of the world's largest producers of Neon gas. You know what Neon is needed for? Microchips. I'm pretty sure the vast majority of  US-based semiconductor producers rely almost exclusively on Ukrainian Neon.

Then we'll place sanctions on china and stop trade. Wait... we're reliant on chinese exports and have a huge current account deficit largely facilitated by China? Well **** it.. say we're appalled and maybe berate some chinese citizens living here but don't directly oppose them. Companies do it all the time so why can't we.
