I'll post what's happening as it comes through for purposes of posterity. Doubt the veracity of what is posted here. Having lived through the Iraq war, I am sure that the vast majority of what gets reported will turn out to be either misinformation or outright ********. Posting because a lot of non-Australia members will be asleep, now. I'll report as much as I can.

So far the g****vine is:

Russia has indeed embarked on a full scale invasion of Ukraine. Air attacks, and ground forces. There has been at least one missile strike, there have been front-line Ukranian casualities ( have seen video, cannot post it here, too graphic).

Belarus has thrown in with Russia/is issuing support.
Reports of Ukrainian air defence having shot down multiple Russian planes, either drones or fighters.

About couple of thousands left the country from what Ive read. But I've seen messages that say some men evacuate their families to Poland and they comeback to Ukraine to fight Russia. Heartbreaking.

Don't get me started on the chechen dictator. Most the time he just acts like a spoilt child but his toys are sport clubs. The ****** uses most of the $17 billion Chechnya gets from the russian goverment to invest in personal ventures like his football team Fc Akhmat Grozny or in to meeting his favourite celebrities like a 14 year old fangirl. 

It's not even sportwashing like most middle eastern nations do. He's just a ******* manchild

@Caesar Whats up with the fan girl thing? The what? You have to remember though if Kadyrov wasnt in charge Chechnya would be an extremist Islamist state or ghetto like new Afghanistan or parts of UK/France/Sweden etc where the Muslims there self govern and abide to their own code. There will never be a democracy there, not saying I like him but pick your poison

I can still criticise the **** and i will definitely. Just because he's the lesser of two evils doesn't mean i can't deride him for his incompetency in spending the vast amount of funds he's given. Most of the money is for putting down islamist extremism but he then uses this money to not help his country that has been marred by consistent wars but instead to fuel his ego and childhood dreams.

Well Chechens in Chechnya are doing better than they were in the 90s or early 2000s and the sports funding is important to prevent young Chechens from "going to the forrest" and becoming extremist fighters for international jihad, provide them with another path they can also vent their frustrations while on that path, workout all the stress etc. Im sure they have colleges and uni too by now? For the less combative

I'm doubtful for how much FC Akhmat contributes tbh. Call me a sceptic but i'd assume the lack of islamist extremism is down to the crushing of such as Kadyrov pursues this in order to continue funding from daddy putin. Also yes, Chechnya is better than the 90s, mainly because now they're not in a war with russia ha.
I'll cede that life has improved though

I know yeah but what is the alternative? Have Chechnya become a breeding and recruiting ground for Islamic jihad fighters? I wish they could have a democracy but there only 21 true democracies in the world
