I heard that Oscar De La Hoya was considering a comeback but never in my life would I have ever considered Vitor Belfort as an opponant.

@Mikey1903

If these circus fights do actually bring new fans to boxing then I'm all for it but I'm not sure how many of those fans stick around and become serious boxing fans afterwards. I think if boxing is to grow and become more mainstream again then the only way to do it is by getting the best to fight the best rather than these gimmick circus fights.

Yeah, I don't really buy the "YouTubers bring new fans to boxing" .  Yeah, they'll watch the Paul brothers but I highly doubt they are then tuning in to Chocolatito fans!!!
Like most things, it's purely a cash grab!
Yes, make the best vs the best in boxing. That will create more interest and more viewers.  Get rid of the 150 World Championship titles and the different broadcasters/networks need to work together.  It's kinda like  teams. You've got the PBC squad who won't face the Top Rank roster who won't face the DAZN squad!!!   Even in the UK we've got it with Matchroom and Queensbury!!
So many obstacles in the way of making fights.

Saying that, I do see an increase in UNdisputed fights which is awesome.  We just had Josh taylor unify at 140, Charlo vs Castano is for Undisputed at 154 in July, Canelo has WBC,WBA, WBO and faces IBF Plant next at 168, Teofimo in my view is the guy at 135(Haney has a wierd WBC belt).  At 122 we have WBO Fulton vs WBC Figueroa, with the winner looking to face IBF/WBA Akhmadaliev.  Inoue is looking to face Donaire at 118.  All these unifications are great!  This will help masively , knowing who is no 1 at each division

@Mikey1903

It's great to see all those unification bouts but in an ideal world, I'd still like to see it where there is just one governing body that dominates the world (like FIFA is in football) with just 1 world title for each division. I know that's asking too much though.

No, Vitor was released a month or 2 ago.  Now Vitor is concentrating on Boxing.
It's a bit of a joke really. He has a fight booked vs "The Real Tarzann" some Instagram Steve Irwin wannabe!!! That was meant to be this weekend on Triller but that card was postponed tilAugust.
Not sure if Vitor is still doing that or he's going straight into this vs De la Hoya???

It is definitely strange that ONE made a big deal about signing Vitor then he's released without ever fighting for them?
I'd have much prefered to see old TRTitor in ONE vs Aung Sang Lang or even a rematch vs Sexyama!
Anything would be better than this nonsense!

 I never  watch  any of this circus stuff, I'm proud of how I'm not the low common denomater for once. I only watch a round of Logan vs Floyd, Sawed how bad it was, Then turn it off and watch Mike Tyson fight becuase it Iron Mike. I don't get how anyone get exited for this stuff, Or even tune in to it. I rather watch Pros box, Not big stars. It quite sad how the Paul bros get more eyes on boxing they even Anthany Josha, Canelo or Tyson Fury

Edit: Calling it right now, This fight ending in a draw like every exabition fights. Put money if you can on that

It's not really new, especially by Japanese MMA standards, Pride FC use to be known for freakshow fights and brought in a lot of "entertainment" matches to MMA.

Bellator has been doing **** since Bjorn left and they abandoned their tournament format, proceeding to have fights such as Ken Shamrock vs. Kimbo, Shamrock vs. Gracie, Kimbo vs. DaDa 5000

UFC, I mean they brought in Lesnar. Lesnar got exposed badly, tested positive and even fought again on their 200th card tested positive and retired again. James Toney more talked himself into a fight, and the UFC gave him more of a chance, they didn't really just bring him in he was talking all kinds of ****.

This is now evolved into these ****shows, Oscar almost getting Chuck Liddell murdered (the medics had incredible trouble getting Chuck back to consciousness, it's not mentioned though)

Overeem's run while on the juice
TRT Belfort
TRT Dan Hendo

The evolution has crossed over into boxing, mixing mma's freaks with boxing's freaks.

As many of you may be aware, I'm a huge fan of freak fights and goofy mismatches, but this fight and the other recent boxing matches have been stupid and lame. Comparing this ******** to PRIDE or Fight Circus is like comparing competitive knitting to drag racing.

As someone who barely knows anything about boxing, De La Hoya is...rather notable.

Oscar Dela Hoya was 1 of the P4P best during the late 90s early 2000s, he was P4P no1 97-99, became the PPV seller and he was Boxings biggest star. He won WorldTTitles from Super Featherweight right up to Middleweight (6 divisions)  plus an Olympic Gold medal in 92.
He's starting to become more known for being an oddball, coke head, suspender wearing freak recently!!!
But as just a boxer he was a legitimate all time great.
