Did anyone see anything for international men's day yesterday? It kinda seems like everyone forgot it existed.

@Hadrian nah, the only thing people were talking about yesterday was the rittenhouse trial, at least here in the states, not sure if anyone else gives af loll

Didn't watch yesterday's UFC card noticed there were a lot of decisions. Any fights worth watching?

All of them, all the fight could of been fight of the year, don’t look at Ko or submission, all fight was classic

Don't look at these fights, he wants you to waste your time like we all did on prelims

I dunno. That Yahya vs Kang fight could be potential hall of fame fight nominee down the road..it was a bloodbath

potential foty contenders for y'all coming in on december? imo the only 2 fights I've seen that were contenders were petr yan vs cory sandhagen and justin gaethje vs michael chandler

those two and Ortega-Volkanovski are probably the top fights of the year. Also Ponzinnibio-Baeza.

I didn't get to see voklanovskis fight because time zones, I was really sad because I knew it was going to be a great one.

So off topic. I just spent 389 Dollars on a Quarter. I collect coins lol. its a expensive hobby

Interesting why pay so much for a quarter, I collect morgan dollars and other silver coinage?

I am alittle confused. If you collect Morgan Dollars, you know how expensive they are. Especially the Carson City?

I always play a game with the few people who figure out the hobby i have of coins. I always ask them what makes a coin valuable. Almost none get the correct answer. Every once in a while someone will surprise me.

The first answer, the age of the coin. The older the coin the more valuable. Thats a negative. People have buckets full of roman coins from 2k years ago. Age doesnt always create value. There are modern coins worth much more than older coins.

Then the precious metal content. Also negative. While Gold, Silver and Platinum are base line indicators of value. The minimum price for that ounce of Gold coin is always the value of coin but doesnt have to create a higher premium.

The Rarity of the coin. Also Negative. Watching Pawn stars one time, i remember the older guy saying i have a one of a kind dog turd in my back yard. That doesnt make it valuable making it less rare. Often times having a low mintage is bad for the coin because there is not a lot of people seeking to purchase it, driving the cost down. The more people want it the more valuable it becomes


The correct answer is actually Desire and a healthy marketplace. For example. If your planet is too close to the sun you burn and too far away you freeze. So the mintage numbers(rarity) of the coin must be a in goldilocks zone. That number is prevalent for the 1909 S VDB Lincoln Penny. It has roughly 484k minted. Theres a healthy marketplace. Now poor collectors could have a cheaper worn down version for low cost and high end collectors have fight over premium examples. Everyone can own one in different grades and its not flooded with coins or extremely rare.

The other answer is Desire. And i use the diamond example for that. A sapphire is more rare then a Diamond. A Diamond is more expensive then a Sapphire. Why? Because "Diamond are Forever" The desire the own them and other shady people controlling the supply makes them more valuable. Now back to the 1909 S VDB penny. Many other coins have roughly the same mintage at 484k. But these are the 1st year of the Lincoln Penny and highly desirable. Mostly due to folklore and the significance of the coin.

@Rigno. Hobby. I am a hoarder too. Almost never sell. It's value was around 550 and it was a steal at 389.

@Chris I collect stuff too. Antiques mainly. Especially oil lamps, but pretty much anything Deco/modernist.

well I collect panini cards, have since I was 6. I usually open 70 packs for each year, this year I've got really into it. I've opened about 200, and my collection is about 98% done, just need some base cards.

I used to be obsessed with the Match Attax cards when I was a kid but I don't collect them any more. I put a whole bunch of them up for sale on eBay once (about 500 or so average cards) starting at a tenner just to get rid of them. Not a single bid. I then tried selling them at various local car boot sales and I was getting about 50p per card (even for the not rare and damaged ones) and that's an average btw, I didn't set a price, I just let guys make offers and as long as they weren't really taking the piss, I let them go cheap. I got rid of most of them and ended up making about £370 over that summer. One other guy who was a serious collector told me I could've made even more at specialist fairs and websites but I didn't care about the money too much as I'd already made more than my original tenner lol! I'm still not 100% why local car boot sales ended up being a more successful marketplace than the biggest auction site on the internet though.
