@Wasteland, I'm sure glad you had that opportunity. The debt we owe to the past is our obligation to learn from it.

Catching up on the previous page: it's an ethical paradox that some of the greatest advancements of humanity come from absolute tragedy. There's a line of thought that the Renaissance was a direct consequence of the Black Death, for example, and, as Stephen alluded, it's difficult to read any books on modern advancements in science and the humanities without seeing the adjective "postwar" all over the place. In a way, the Norse story of Ragnarok is a parable of this sort of thing - response to the worst we can do sometimes produces the best we can do.

That doesn't mean you root for World War III or anything.

One of my favorite quotes of all time

In The Third ManOrson Welles’ character Harry Lime says,

“In Italy for thirty years under the Borgias, they had warfare, terror, murder, and bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, and the Renaissance. In Switzerland, they had brotherly love, they had five hundred years of democracy and peace, and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock.”

I just copied and pasted it i don’t wanna mess the quote up because it’s so good and so true.

Meh Venom side of Spiderman universe is the only one with any life left in it.
And he seems missing even though he is the number one Rival and even Anti-Hero.

@Josh i am pretty sure Spider-man in December will out gross 3 fold the latest Venom movie a few weeks ago. While Venom movies are great, and Tom Hardy is the perfect fit for the character. saying they are the only one with life is just silly. Each other spiderman movie was fantastic

@stuthehistoryguy Yeah I prefer an open system to a facist or communist system, so yeah we owe a debt to them... Even though there are alot of problems with inequality now in most places and its not perfect, still probably better than an extreme system

Slight hot take.

The MCU Spider-Man is the most has the most fun movies out of the 3. Also Tom Holland is the best Peter Parker.

I love the fact that there are two different conversations on the same page about Spiderman and what we owe to arguably the worst event in human history. Such a contrast lol! Ironically, if WW2 had gone differently then we might not be enjoying Spiderman today.

A general Gripe about Tapology as a Data site.

Tapology has the same fundamental issues that Boxrec  does: It lacks a way to filter variables and measure them for comparison against any given fighter's upcoming opponent on a single page. This wouldn't really bother me however every fighter's entry on this site has 318 graphs detailing information that isn't really useful to me ta all in making a pic (it's just chart junk), and virtually none that would be. There are no stats for TDS/SLPM/SAPM/TDD etc et al. I understand there's just not going to be that data for a lot of fighters out there, but there's a lot of fighters out there for whom stats do exist.

I don't need a horizontal bar graph detailing wins/draws/losses over a career span.
Nobody does. It's just straight up ****** Heuristics.

If I'm having soup for dinner and there's no spoon, I can't make do with a fork.

This is why I still use UFC fighter stat pages when comparing attributes between two fighters and not Tapology, It is literally exponentially easier and clearer for me to load two pages on the UFC site to compare stats between fighters than to do that here.

Also I don't understand what the point of having backlinks to Sherdog and wikipedia and every other MMA related data site is. This achieves absolutely nothing and is utterly redundant. Why do I need to go to Sherdog or a fighter's wiki entry if that same information is contained on Tapology anyway? I get it generates site traffic but none of it adds anything to the user experience and probably just confuses new members.  And while we're on it, why not backlink to UFC stats anyway? Propriety issues, I suppose.
