Predictions: 8 of 9 Winners, 5 Perfect, 605 Points   |   3rd Place

Buatsi vs. Ford
Joshua Buatsi, TKO, R6
Anyone remember Ryan Ford from WSOF? He was thought as 1 of Canadas best outside the UFC. Was pretty good actually. Buatsi is different class tho, genuinely 1 of the top prospects in all of boxing. He about to make that next step up soon, this fight is a showcase on a big card before he has a bigger tougher fight

Marshall vs. Bastieri
Savannah Marshall, TKO, R4
Love me some Savannah! She will be fighting Claressa Shields sometime soon. I know Shields is the Olympic champion and World at different weights right now but I'm backing Savannah. She already beat Shields in the World Amateur Championship so she can do it again! This is a tune up for a title fight in a couple months so this should be another stroll in the park

Does anyone know why Loma's BoxRec, says he's suspended by I forget which commission, until October 2019? Is this fight off???

It's a medical suspension from California. Just means he can't fight over there until he gets cleared there or the suspension expires. This fight is in London though he will be fine.

Lomachenko vs. Campbell
Vasiliy Lomachenko, TKO, R7
Luke Campbell is the best British boxer yet to win a world title, he's been unlucky thatbhia 1st title shot was against the best Lightweight in the world, at the time, Jorge Linares in a Split DEC overseas and now it doesn't get any easier for title shot no.2. In fact it couldn't be any harder!!! He gets P4P no.1 Lomachenko!!! Campbell is great tho, Olympic Gold great amateur career, long rangy south paw with a bit of snap behind his punches. But none of that matters against an all timer in Loma! He's the best boxer if seen in my lifetime since Roy Jones Jr. The movement is some of the best ever. Shot selection, switch stances, great body shots and deceptive power. Just enjoy watching a great in action.

Fury vs. Povetkin
Alexander Povetkin, DEC
Povetkin is a top 10 Heavyweight Hughie Fury isn't. But Povetkin is 40 now so maybe thia is the fight when that shows? Hughie isn't that big of a puncher tho so I don't see him knocking him out. Maybe gets a home cooking points win? More likely Povetkin schools him.

Cordina vs. Gwynne
Gavin Gwynne, DEC
Weird little fact about this fight. This is the 1st time ever that 2 Welshmen have ever faced each other for a British Boxing Title! Interesting AF I know eh!

@brad  like @shake says it's absolutely nothing.  I've seen that on a few guys BoxRec profiles, saying they're suspended by so and so commission but are booked to fight in a different state/country.

It just confuses me.... Like if USADA hands down a suspension. It don't matter where the fight is, you're not fighting.... That's why I was a little confused

Brad I think that's only true for UFC fighters, and because MMA is not governed by the Ali Act, and these guys are all under contract, if they get hit with a USADA suspension it ostensibly means they simply can't fight. USADA is not a global standard; it's not a owned by the state, it's a private company that promotions can choose to hire or not. Therefore, its jurisdiction is limited to whatever contracts it has with any given company like the UFC. It charges above the market value for testing, and isn't as good as others. Why do they have a contract with UFC? Probably because they play ball, and arrange things so that big name fighters don't get busted, or so that their findings result in lighter sentences, or alternatively that certain fighters do get busted if its convenient for the promotion to have that happen for some reason.

It's just business, it's about the bottom line. If golden geese were pulled from cards willy nilly at inopportune times, cards would be cancelled or otherwise seriously devalued endlessly. Also, fighters getting busted who might draw very low numbers who might take out a golden goose and devalue that fighters ability to draw can be removed from the competition pool. Having a testing agency on the take is very good for business from all angles. Hence, the UFC has an under-the-table handshake with a seemingly respectable testing agency, and they pay waaaaaaay above the going rate for it. It's about externalities and profit loss minimization. Risk mitigation. Think about it; how many superstars that generate huge cash get busted while they're jackpotting? Not many. None, really. It's always the Cb Dolloways of the world and people kicking up a stink publicly about fighter pay/during contract negotiations, long after their star has fallen and their out of their prime (Anderson Silva)

Even Jones was given multiple wrist slaps and got off easy. They had to do it, because the PR disaster if they'd given him nothing would have destroyed both USADA and the UFC's credibility completely.

Lomachenko vs. Campbell
Vasiliy Lomachenko, DEC
Weeeee all knooow about Loma, his amateur accolades, I mean the duuude was Soooooo highly rated, he fought José Ramírez in his pro debut. NOBODY does **** like that. Face a guy 25-3 in their debut (It's something like that) Most guys debut against a walking trash can with a 6-165-4 record. Campbell, like Loma is a 31 year old southpaw. Riding a 3 fight win streak, and winning his last 8/9 , only losing to Jorgé Lináres in that stretch. Which I believe after Lináres beat Campbell, Lináres faced Lomachenko, and Loma beat and took his belt. Campbell's only other loss was to Ývan Mendy, which he got to avenge recently. Idk. I don't know if Lomachenko finishes Campbell. If he can, it'll be late. Loma finished 7/10 KO's, AFTER R6.

Edwards vs. Aguilar
Julio Cesar Martinez Aguilar, TKO, R7
This is reeaaally hard for me to pick. I think Edwards, but then I see Martínez knocking him out. I think Martínez, but then I see Edwards out workin him to a decision... Martínez is the #1 contender for a reason, so he's no slouch. I rest my decision based on the toughness of competition. Edwards combined opp. record (165–96–16) and has 7 wins vs guys with losing records. Martínez-Aguilar combined opp. record (178–67–9) with only 2 wins vs. guys that were making their debut, or had losing records. And Martínez finished 11/14 of them guys. I knooow you shouldn't pick underdogs in boxing, but this is tooo juicy to pass up.

Fury vs. Povetkin
Alexander Povetkin, DEC
Povetkin is clearly the better guy........ But at 39 Yrs old, you run the risk of having the bottom fall out from under your feet at any given moment..... Just don't think it's likely to happen here with Fury not exactly being the power punching type...

Cordina vs. Gwynne
Joe Cordina, TKO, R4
Gavin Gwynne is trash. that 11–0 record of his, is sooo ******* suspect. He's got 10 ************* wins...... That's 10/11 wins, vs. guys either making their debut, or with losing records. Annnd he only has 1 KO against those cans. He's pure trash. Not worthy of this fight.

Tennyson vs. Shafiq
James Tennyson, TKO, R3
Here's another guy with a great, but highly suspect record. Atif Shafiq. He's won last 8/9 fights, but He lost to a guy 1–4. The competition he faced????? Pure **** on the bottom of your shoe. The combined records of his opponents (this ones the best: 132–925–42) Pure ****. Tennyson SHOULD destroy this guy.

Lomachenko vs Campbell

Lomachenko, TKO R8.

Campbell is a very good fighter, but Lomachenko is a great fighter. It's basically that simple. I think this goes about the same way as the Linares fight ( Linares beat Campbell let's not forget) with Loma being given trouble in some moments early, but ultimately taking over  from the third onwards for a late-ish TKO. Luke will need to draw him into a firefight and hope he comes out the other side of it in better shape. He's bigger and he hits hard, and that's possible...but not likely. Loma is a puzzle as yet unsolved. Maybe it can't be.

Fury vs Povetkin

Povetkin, KO/TKO R5

He's not far into his career, and while I'm not sure he'll ever achieve the heights of his cousin, he does have the Gypo fighting spirit and unorthodoxy of his cousin, and has been in there with some big punchers before. That said I just can't pick him in this one. This is a bad fight for him. Povetkin is long in the tooth, but he's still dangerous. I don't think Fury has enough power to really put the fear of God into him. I think Povetkin is gonna hit a big duck return off a level change and land a big one that he follows up with stuff, and it gets waived.

Cordina vs. Gwynne

Cordina, KO/TKO R4.

This looks like a bumfeed to me designed to give Cordina an exciting KO for the crowd. Gwynne is pretty terrible; typically you expect to see a decent amount of finishes on amateur boxing records especially against inexperienced guys, but he's got virtually all UD's against newbs and cans. Surest pick of the card here. Gwynne gets smoked, early.

Marshall vs Basterie

Marshall, KO/TKO R2.

Hard to know how good Bastiere is after two fights. Both have come by finish, but that doesn't mean that much. Beating shields, even as an amateur means something though. I'll take Marshall here.
