"It Doesn't Get Bigger Than This" is what the UFC is calling the superfight between former UFC Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar and former Strikeforce Heavyweight Champion Alistair Overeem which is set to take place in the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on New Years Weekend at UFC 141.

Overeem has said that he will destroy Brock Lesnar, but in a new Facebook post from renown trainer Erik Paulson, similar comments are being made.

Paulson said the following in response to his thoughts on the UFC 141 match-up between Brock Lesnar and Alistair Overeem,
Quote:
Overeem won't last more than three minutes. Brock is the scariest and hungriest he has ever been. Brock started camp at 299lbs and he is now 280lbs and he is shredded. He will be coming in looking to absolutely destroy Alistair and become the number one contender again. The camp is going better than expected. He is bigger, faster, stronger and more athletic than Alistair and has a few tricks up his sleeves for his fight. We brought in some new guys, switched some things up. I don't think there is any human on the planet that can beat the new Brock Lesnar.

Alistair Overeem will be the first one to learn that.

Agreed... a little skeptical that he'll be able to reinvent himself physically or strategically at this point.

That's what they said when he came back to fight Cain. Is Lesnar still terrified of being hit? Is his standup still awful? To say stuff like that is ridiculous. Overeem is one of the most respected fighters in the world.

Lesnar has a good chin, he doesn't need jaw training. He does however act like an amatuer when he gets hit.

Cain touched him and he tornadoed across the octagon. Carwin hit him and he went down like a ton of bricks.

I actually don't think Lesnar's standup is awful or that he has a bad chin.  There's a difference between not liking to be hit, and going unconscious because you have no chin.

Carwin threw everything he had at brock and didnt knock him out, that mean's you have a good chin.

We don't even know how many punches landed on Brock when Carwin was on top. Punches can actually knock you back into consciousness as well.

I keep going back and forth on this fight.

If Lensar can get the takedown right away, I think there's a very good chance he'll be able to hold Overeem down, at least stuff his way to half guard, and work Overeem over until he gets a (T)KO.  It might not even take very long.

On the other hand, Overeem isn't a bad wrester.  He also may only need to defend one takedown, and force Lesnar into one exchange to land that one good shot that puts Lesnar in a bad enough way to end the fight.

Even if Lesnar does take Overeem down, Overeem is not a fish out of water on his back, and I doubt he's going to sit there and let Brock blast him in the face while clinging to half guard like Frank Mir did.

Either way, I don't see this fight getting out of the first round.  One of these two fighters are going to impose their will on the other.  Once that happens, it won't take long for the fight to end.

It won't go to a five round decision, that's for damn sure.

Brock has the ability and skills to totally dominate the hw landscape regardless of who he's fighting. Hell if Brock hadn't come out all wreckless throwing flying knees at Cain he would have beat Cain and he'd still be champ. I think Brock will get his belt back.

We'll soon find out!

Unless Lesnar gets a takedown straight away, Overeem is gonna show him what world class striking feels like.
