Diaz is exciting, but not as good as everyone thinks. Since he hasn't fought any wrestlers since he was in the ufc, he hasn't had a chance to improve his wrestling. It's probably gotten worse actually. Jake Shields is still higher ranked then him, and he just came off of a loss.

If by "counts" you mean he generally lives up to the betting lines, then yes, it counts.

just because u don't fight them doesnt mean u dont train for them...with gil melendez and jake shields at cesar gracie, he's been able to actively work on defensive wrestling for quite some time, just hasnt needed it yet...we'll see how much better he's gotten

also, with jake shields JUST fighting gsp, he can and will share the knowledge with diaz...making it a lot easier in the opening rounds...

Working on wrestling in training is not the same as in a fight, and GSP is one of, if not the best wrestler in mma. There is no way Diaz will be able to stop his takedowns.

@mmown i respectfully disagree man....diaz lives, eats, and sleeps training..thats ALL he does..except pot...anyway, he's not doing promos, commercials, radio spots...he's training all day every day...so if he's been training wrestling since leaving the ufc, his wrestling will be excellent! however, i've seen AWESOME wrestlers get dominated by gsp (fitch, kos, hughes, penn) so that might not be enough to stop them....so instead, gracie has probably accepted that diaz can be taken down, so they'll look for sweeps and submissions from positions gsp frequents

Diaz does train and does actually like to push himself. He just has a method of madness way of doing it. And he's said during those Ironman runs or cycling that he does like to do it high.

It doesn't matter how many likes and comments are on each page....It doesn't give any fighter a slight edge or make any conclusions who should win. If GSP can move the way he does Diaz will stalk him and use his looping punches that some how find faces, and miss...He'll then get taken down when they are in close. GSP won't back against the cage and let Diaz throw shots to the liver and the side of the face...
He'll know when to get out of danger and use his footwork to frustrate Diaz and use his wrestling when Diaz is off balance with his striking.
I sure hope Diaz wins just so the haters can have a glory day and feel gratified for a little while, but GSP would just come back and get his belt anyways. So if Diaz wins. You mine as well bath in the glory because it will be short lived.
GSP should be winning this fight unless he makes a mistake.

i can certainly accept the first diaz /gsp fight goes  nicks way. he gets paid well and in the rematch he could even get more money and a small % of the ppv since he is champion. i can live with that. then he can go beat up penn after that match. plus it does matter how many likes he has. 90 % of the people say gsp is more popular but the votes don't prove it. is it b/c nobody in canada watches youtube video's?

@wolf why the fascination with youtube video likes? I don't see how some random youtube video uploader is the deciding factor for who's more popular..i got a better number for you 76% of Tapology are picking GSP to win

After reading all the posts in this forum and laughing out loud at some I've realized why I am sometimes alone in my defense of GSP and why it feels like there are so many Diaz fans. Diaz fans love to talk about how great Diaz is. Just like Nick he loves to talk about how great he is too. So on the other end of the spectrum there's Georges who doesn't do a lot of talking about it he just goes into the octagon and does it. I think a lot of GSP fans take the high road as well and don't say a whole lot. I think I'm gonna take a page out of GSP's book and not say anything. I think for this fight I will just let all the Diaz fans believe what they want and not argue at all. After October 29th we will all know who the true champion is.

@cash. popularity and picking who is going to win  are two different priorities. i always said let the better fighter win that night and i hope regardless of who wins its a great fight so not only the fans of both fighters  win, Mixed Martial Arts wins and so does the UFC. :- }
