I don't think McMann has near the submission defense as Meisha Tate. Rousey may get taken down, but her submission grappling is miles above McManns. I'll go as far as saying we may even see another Rousey flying armbar win.

@bk I sort of agree but at the same time, McMann's the kind of athlete and competitor that could have made some real improvements in the last 9 months.  Not that she's going to armbar Rousey, but her sub defense might be getting really sharp.

Hoping Rousey's domination continues. After rewatching some McMann fights I'm reminded that her striking is definitely sharper than Ronda's looked against tate. But with Ronda's always improving stand up I don't think the difference will be all that great when it comes down to it. Hoping McMann shoots a power double right away and lands in an arm bar

In all honesty I think Rousey should win but I think this fight will tell us if Ronda is ready for Cyborg

I wonder how long it will take for the UFC to bring over Holly Holm?  Does anyone think Ronda will beat her?

I'm curious why after defending and retaining her belt Rousey has to fight again in two months when her male counterparts all get 6 months or more between defenses.

@hiblet

Then the joke's on Ronda because McMann's even less "competition". She arguably lost to Shayna Baszler  who's 15-8 (16-7 in my book) and has losses to Davis and Kaufman.

Nothing more than a replay of Aldo vs. Mendes (with perhaps a submission ending).

MMAth doesn't really work like that. A lot of top fighters have lost to Baszler including Alexis Davis, Megumi, and Julie Kedzie. I still think Ronda is going to win, but she is in for a tough fight.

McMann should be able to take Ronda down pretty much at will, so the question then becomes can Ronda work off her back and get the armbar or will McMann be able to shut it down. I don't think Ronda is at all an unbeatable champion and I think McMann will be able to leave with a UD.

I really don't think she can take Ronda down "at will" ... she might be able to take her down but just her being an Olympic silver medalist at wrestling (you know, that sport where there's no punching and kicking involved so takedowns are somewhat more "natural") doesn't mean she takes her down at will (DC didn't take Frank Mir down at will and Mir's nothing close to Ronda in TDD. I know this proves nothing about Ronda/McMann matchup except for the fact that Olympic level wrestling doesn't automatically translate to taking fighters down at will in an MMA bout).

Also let's not forget that Ronda's an Olympic bronze medalist Judoka and won't get taken down at will by anyone if you're going to go the "Olympian" route.

As for how she works off her back ... the answer is: pretty awesome! Her guard is as active as anyone out there's, if not better. She can slap that armbar on from more or less anywhere the fight goes. She's that good at it and nothing McMann has trained for in order to reach said silver medal can get her out of it once it's on.

I don't think McMann wins this or even lasts as long as Meisha did (though I think McMann beats Miesha - the magic of styles making matches) since I think that Miesha's better sub defense and the fact that she had already "felt" Ronda's aggression before gave her that extra oomph.

I think McMann gets subbed in the 2nd at latest, most likely towards the second half of the first.

@Yoss

Are you really comparing men to women with the DC/Mir fight? Mir is a lot bigger than DC, a reason he couldn't take him down at will. And why the hell would you? His submissions from bottom and top are great. Ronda only (from what we've seen) only has submission skills from top. McMann is the sane size as Ronda too, unlike DC being smaller than Mir.

There's one far bigger. **** a bronze medalist Judoka vs. a silver medalist Wrestler.

Rulon Gardner vs. Hidehiko Yoshida.

That was a gold medalist in Greco-Roman wrestling vs. a gold medalist in Judo.
