This one is interesting. Andre Ramiro who played Mathias in one of the best Brazzo movies of all time (Tropa de Elite) is fighting Roman Laurito, the bass player for a decently famous band called Tihuana. It gets better, Tihuana made a song for the movie named none other than Tropa de Elite.

yeah, that Golden Fighters card is awesome, puts recent JF cards to shame. I wonder why Canal Combate doesn't care about them.

btw, the fight between the Trope de Elite guy and the Tihuana bassist will be a submission match, not MMA. but the others will be pickable.

BJJ black belt Leandro Issa, from ONE FC, signed with the UFC. nice addition to the BW roster.

Issa will be fighting Russell Doane on the Singapore card

Anyone know what happened to him. He looked like a pretty good prospect on paper but he hasnt fought in 2 years and hasnt been scheduled to fight in a year.


Edit: Im guessing he retired. dude had a fight in 1992. pretty impressive if he got wins on Mello, Brandao and Birchak while being up there in age.

@curt he's a MMA legend in north of Brazil, world and national BJJ champion.

he was briefly schedulled to fight in Amazon Forest Combat 2 last year, but I guess he retired... he teaches at Nova União Manaus, nowadays.

Luis "Sapo" Santos has been controversial lately due to not making weight in two events. He was supposed to fight alongside his wife Carina Damm (quite controversial herself) who also didn't make weight at SFT 2 a couple days ago. Not only that but they arrived at the hotel late. Sapo's opponent refused to fight while Damm's did not.

Damm is pretty *****. She's been caught roiding, handing in fake urine samples and missing weight on more than one occasion. Just a disgrace to WMMA in Brazil. Sucks to see Sapo go along the same road.

all the while Damm is getting praises from the media for barely beating women with only 1 or 2 professional bouts.

So, Luis "Sapo" Santos, was the main event in MMA Super Heroes 2 and the co-main event in SFE 2 (in Ecuador)... he did not fight in any of those.

André Barbosa, MMA Super Heroes president, explained why: "every athlete was supposed to show at 2 PM for he weigh-ins, Sapo and his wife Carina Damm were the only ones to come in at 3:30 PM. As soon as they get there, they say they can't make weight, putting the decision in my hands. Sapo was 0.9KG above weight, and said live, to national network, that he would come back in two hours (at 7 PM) and would make weight. At 9:30 PM he shows up saying he was pissing blood and that he just got out of the doctor's room and he told him to stop losing weight. I gathered with Sapo's team and we tried again, he weights 81.5kg, almost 3kg more than last time. So Alexandre's Sagat Team, 011, don't agree with the fight."

Estafano Popescu, SFE president, also spoke about what happened in Ecuador: "just moments before the show, Sapo began to require blood tests from his opponent, saying he could fight, but if his opponent started to bleed, the fight would be stopped and he would be declared the winner. So obviously we didn't agree, and we asked about his blood tests as well. He didn't have it on him, only in his email box, just like Chatuba's (his opponent). Then he began to act weird, questioning me as to why Chatuba was in Ecuador for 15 days already and he just got there yesterday. So I explained Chatuba decided to come early paying for his stay with his money, to adjust to the altitude, and he could've done so too, if he wanted. So in the end, the fight got cancelled."

lol a first blood mma match, that's an interesting proposal. I didn't know Carina Damm was his wife.

Shooto Brazil just announced (like 3 hours ago) they will be doing a male vs. female MMA fight next weekend.
I'm still half waiting for Dedé Pederneiras to come out and say this is just a joke. It will be a bantamweight bout and it's already drawing HUGE criticism by the public.

Yeah, I just read that and am still trying to wrap my mind around it ...

It seems like this won't get sanctioned.
