Brandao is dangerous for aboout the first 5 minutes after that he gasses, and that is when Poirier gets the finish.

There is absolutely no where this fight can go where Brandao has a chance ... usually he's got the BJJ/striking edge or all-around edge where his opponent knows he needs to survive until he gasses, in this fight, even before he gasses Poirier is a better striker, grappler and IMO has better BJJ than Brandao.

The only thing Brandao has over him is one punch power, but Poirier's got a good chin and better movement in order to not get punched with a fight-ending bomb.

Poirier by 2nd round finish in a surprisingly easy fight.

Basically, Poirier should be fighting contenders now, Brandao is everything but until he can show us 3 rounds of solid pace.

DP all the way in this one in every aspect. Brandao is just not ready for this type of competition.
As said earlier Brandao gasses pretty quick, so even if he takes the first round, DP will get the next 2, should it be a distance fight.

Pineda executed a great gameplan pushing the pace, and DP can do exactly the same with better cardio ;)

Poirier's got a ton of upside to his career and seems very much poised to be a legit contender someday soonish. Brandao is a tough guy who's struggled with his cardio in the past, though I think he's getting a bit better at controlling that. Still "the Diamond" should get the nod here and continue his quest for a title shot.

All the missed weight did for me was change from 2nd round to 1st round KO.  There is no one in the UFC who is as intense, as focused, and wants to win as much as Dustin Poirier.  He's going to destroy Brandao

@Gebe He was actually 153lbs. Someone must have forgot to tell him this fight was at Featherweight and not Lightweight.

I'm a huge Poirier fan and I can't wait for this one. I hope The Diamond ruins him especially for missing weight that badly. I believe those choice words were directed towards Diego for his poor attempt at making the Featherweight limit.

I doubt that's all he said, he was pointing at him he looked angry, wouldn't be surprised if he said the same thing he said against Brookins.
