Jones vs. Sonnen

I am torn on this fight a bit Jones hasn't really fought a guy that has tested his ground game in a while. I think Sonnen might be the first guy to take Jones to the ground in a fight. If he can do it to Silva he can do it to Jones, the key is not to lay and pray but to try and work a finish once he gets him there and not try anything fancy like a spinning elbow. But Jones will no doubt utilize his reach and test Sonnen's chin or use it for defense on the ground for a submission win.

The thing in this fight is the wrestling, I think Sonnen can best Jones in the wrestling tbh. But the question is, does Jones have the subs off his back. I mean really, we have never seen him in that position, and I guarantee we see him on his back.

Jones has schooled wrestlers with better credentials than Sonnen in Bader and Matyushenko and beat a comparably good MMA wrestler in Rashad , so I wouldn't be surprised if Jones demolishes Sonnen even in the wrestling.

I see Sonnen getting his knee kicked, and jabbed to the face until he tries a desperation takedown, and get choked out in the 1st round with a guillotine. *** does Sonnen have to threaten Bones with? 

Jones is going to make Chael say uncle and or beat him senseless.

Chael will be outwrestled, outstruck and outclassed.

You really think Sonnen's the guy to put Jones on his back?

I dunno man, Jones' MMA-wrestling is not too shabby and he's much faster, stronger and longer than Chael ... If Chael tries to take him down, Jones will probably see it from a mile away (and by a mile I mean 84.5'' ;) ), snuff it and ragdoll Chael (who I'm pretty sure has absolutely zip to offer when he's on his back).

I don't think Jones is going to be put on his back by a light heavyweight ... When he goes up to heavyweight, maybe Cormier or Velasquez ... that's if they can get close enough to do it, I'd imagine he'd be bigger and stronger by then and he's always improving on utilizing his reach to keep the distance in order to see takedowns coming ... Think about it, when Rashad was watching Rampage's fight against Jones he kept saying "why is he staying on the outside" and then when he fought him he saw that is wasn't a decision, it's just VERY hard to get inside Jones' reach, plus Jones has fought bigger, faster and better wrestlers than Chael and none of them have even come close to putting him on his back.

The only guys I see with more than a puncher's chance of beating Jones are Overeem ('cos he'd be the one to actually kick those legs in and chop him down), Cormier/Velasquez (REALLY elite wrestling + KO power) and JDS because he's got the speed to get inside that reach (but of course this is without knowing how Jones is going to look when he moves up, just guessing he'll be bigger and do everything he does now just that bit better).

As for Sonnen, I think it's going to be short, brutal and result in Chael either retiring (because he's actually "in it to win it" so seeing he can't win will send him packing) or he's start eating/fasting and start picking on JDS/GSP :))

I just think that Jones's reach and his wrestling and his submissions will be too much for Chael. I am rooting for Chael seeing as how I'm from Oregon, but I just don't see him winning this sadly. So, seeing as how Jones won his last few fights (Vitor, Rampage, Machida) by Submission, and SUB defense seems to be Chael's weakness and Submissions seem to be one of Jonny's strengths, I feel he'll utilize his reach and eventually get a submission.

Jones will sub him.  I can see Sonnen maybe making it out of the first but he won't last 5 rounds with Jones.

I would LOVE to see Sonnen win, but I can't pick him here. First time I have ever picked Jones on here I think LOL.

Believe me I don't like Jon Jones at all anymore (used to be a big fan of his) but I don't think there's anyone right now currently in UFC's 205 lb. division that can beat Jones. MAYBE, and that's a huuuuuuuuuuuuuge super-sized MAYBE Lyoto Machida. He's the only fighter that I can think of that ever came close to truly beating Bones (the Hamill fight should have been a NC IMO), but Machida fell victim to a Jones elbow and got choked out. But truly I don't see anyone at 205 in the UFC right now that can beat Jones.

Yeah, I think you're right. I think both Davis and Gustafsson would get murdered by Jones. It's still unbelievable that the Sonnen fight is actually happening. Can't really think of anyone to beat Jones that can make 205, unfortunately right now he's the best.

Yeah Davis and Gus would both get dominated and eventually submitted.

Sooo after Chael wins and takes Jones' belt do we think he will move to HW?

Davis probably would get beaten pretty bad, but I'm not so sure about Gustafsson. Davis has no striking, so that makes sense, but Gustafsson is pretty well rounded and cancels out the size advantage that Jones has against most of his opponents.

I'm not a fan on Bones', but, imo, Chael has nothing for him.

Jones ain't letting Chael off the hook like Silva did.

I want Sonnen to win I just don't think he will....damn I hope I'm wrong.

If Chael keeps fighting for titles, he's got to get lucky eventually
