I will have to say, there is a good probability that round 3 could be the deciding factor in this fight. Gray could also come out and surprise many with good cardio (I think it is better than what many think it is at). Also Gray trained with Aldo (helping Aldo with wrestling, but you know he used it to learn a few tricks as well) for quite a while so I bet he picked up quite a few tricks.

Prediction: wrong Guida   wrong Decision

One interesting thing I noticed is that Guida's never been KOed in his career.  Not that Maynard's great at finishing fights (another interesting thing is that while people say Maynard has weak cardio, he goes the distance more often than not), but when he does, it's always been by KO, never submission, which is the only way Guida's been stopped.

Makes me feel a little better about picking Guida.  If you fight that manic of a style and never get KOed for it, I like your chances more and more.

Guida gets rocked all the time though. He usually gets rocked then finished off with sub.

Naturally I gotta go with Maynard based on who his teammate was when he was on the Michigan State wrestling team!

And who else wouldn't mind seeing Guida give it a go at 145?

Prediction: wrong Guida   wrong Decision

I've gotta say that people are over-looking one big thing: Edgar TKO'd Maynard. If Edgar was able to do that after the beating he took in the first round, I can definitely see Guida doing the same. Edgar is a very, very small lightweight, and Guida is one of the larger ones. I've got Guida by decision, but I would not be (too) surprised to see Guida finish the fight.

That said, Maynard is tough as nails too, and if he's been training smart and doing a lot of cardio, he could pull off a decision also.

This fight has got to be a possible Fight of the Year possiblility. Guida and Maynard have been at the top of the list for a long time now. In a extremely close fight, Maynard should win by a close decision.

Very likely to be Fight of the Night because Guida's fights are great whenever he can't complete the takedown and there is no ******* way he's getting the takedown against Gray Maynard.

Gray Maynard could pick Guida up and F5 him a la Brock Lesnar. That sounds more legit than Guida actually winning.

I would rather Guida not even attempt a takedown and just defend them. If Maynard can't get Guida down and lay on him Guida will win the stand up battle.

oh yeah silly me I forgot Maynard has great stand up......errrr wait.......... Maynard's only way of winning is taking someone down and literally laying there. If he can't get the takedown he gets KTFO.

@p4p Edgar has some of the best boxing if not the best at 155 and Gray blasted him on the feet

His technique leaves quite a bit to be desired but he throws bombs

Maynard could easily catch Clay with something and you're crazy if you think otherwise good sir.

@oldnick that is because he never stands with anyone for the exception of Frankie.

@jaff most of Gray's connections on Frankie were AFTER he landed a big shot and Frankie was rocked. After Frankie got his wits back he picked Maynard apart. Clay never gets the respect he deserves. I hope he gets this win to silent some of his critics.

@soccer I know his is your boy in real life but you can't actually support this nonsense can you? Maynard has rocked Frankie Edgar about 11 times and people said he had the best boxing in MMA.

People forget about this fight and IDK why, but he did beat Nate Diaz in a straight stand up fight as well, and um Nate Diaz is pretty ******* good.

@p4pgoat dude, Maynard could have the 2nd worst standup in the Lightweight division but he'd still have the striking advantage in this fight. Clay Guida is like Wanderlei Silva without the power and without the accuracy. So nothing like Wanderlei Silva.

Thinking that Maynard's way of winning this fight by blanketing Guida might be the single stupidest thing I've read this month. I usually respect your opinions as much as I disagree with some of them because at least there's some basis behind them but this one? you're soo wrong you shouldn't be within 10 clicks of an MMA site.

Don't ask soccer he doesn't like Guida either. lol @anik I know your style is to make it personal and insult people but it makes you sound like an ignorant prick. I usually like what you have to say but seriously Maynard has never won a fight with his stand up and now all of sudden he is? I'm done arguing on this topic because the fight is tomorrow and after the fight I hope you guys come back and apologize.
