Volkmann needs to keep this fight standing because "Sassangle" is a submission beast! Sass loves his triangle chokes almost as much as Cody McKenzie loves his guillotine chokes! He'll have to find another submission to use here.

Sass has 11 wins by submission. The first 7 were triangles but 3 of the last 4 have been heel hooks as opponents avoid his guard more frequently. Volkmann has more to worry about than a triangle, Sass is averaging 13.55 submission attempts per 15 minutes in an admittedly small sample size. That's ridiculous.

Also Volkmann is going around in interviews saying the UFC will cut him for sure if he loses, even though hes won 5 in a row. That guy was born with the glass half empty.

I really want Sass to sub dat dude, and I think he will have a very good chance if Volkmann fights like he always does. If Volkmann is smart tho, this will be a stand up fight the whole time, and I think Volkmann is the better stand up fighter, he looked good against Kampmann a while back. I'm not sure but I'll probably change my pick to Sass just because Volkmann is annoying as ****...

Don't be deceived by Volkmann's smaller, nonathletic looking physique. As long as Volkamann can avoid making any mistakes that get him tapped, he'll rag doll Sass all over the cage tonight.

I don't think you could get a much tighter submission that Escudero had on Volkmann last fight and he escaped somehow...I don't think Sass catches him.

How will judges see the fight if Volkmann is too worried to posture up and allow space to try any GNP or allow space for himself to pass while Sass attempts a half dozen subs per round. We could have a rare 27-30, 30-27 in this fight if it makes it 15 just based on the styles and judges perceptions.

@Swick - Volkmann when asked on a scale of 1 to 10 how close he was to going out he said 9 but said he would've gone out instead of tapping. So he was pretty close to going full rag doll on us.

I think I'd pick Bocek on that one. Think he out-grapples Sass. Bad match-up for Sass, as Sass' fight today was a bad match-up for Volkmann.
