This match up makes me giggle. I can imagine Joe Silva being like, "try laying on this guy for 15 minutes, Volkmann." He's going to have to stand up. If he tries to wrestle/hump Sass, he WILL get tapped. My money is on the tap here, really interested in watching the fight though. Big step up for Sass too.

Escudero's a wrestler, so i guess that constitutes him as a grappler. But the point is, if Escudero can come that close to catching Volkmann, Sass can do it too. I think Sass has the better submission game anyway.

It was a front/guillotine/whatever you want to call it choke. Once Volkmann started squirming around, i think Escudero tried a North/South Choke, but obviously couldn't finish that.

@wolfman Might be awhile. The UFC is trying to keep him from fighting really good fighters because they know he's boring, but he's like Jon Fitch, he doesn't lose to the guys that aren't good so he's building up a huge win streak and ruining a lot of others.

Volkmann like Fitch is very good at finding a TD against high level wrestlers and keeping them on their backs which is a terrible place for a wrestler to be...

Unfortunately being on his back on precisely where Sass wants to be! Volkmann would be a fool to take him down in this fight

A brown belt in BJJ and 7 triangle subs in 12 wins vs a guy who almost got subbed in his last fight against an Efrain Escudero who looks as if he doesn't even want to be in the UFC... Do the math
