Not sure how they gave a round to Valdez, round 2 wasn’t that close. Both got dropped Elder did a lot more outside of the knockdowns.

The fight had quite a few moments where it seemed like there would be a finish: Valdez got a knockdown after caught Elder throwing a leg kick and seemed close to getting a TKO, but despite that it seems to me that the second was also a round for Elder. Elder fought very smart, working with leg kicks and avoiding exchanges in the first round and in the third round when he managed to hurt him he closed the fight using his jab and hand combinations. This fight is a candidate for FOTN.

P.S: Good to see Elder get his first win in the UFC, after starting 0-2 and especially since before the doctor stoppage Elder seemed to have a clear path to achieve an underdog win over Sadhykov in his last fight.
