Yeah Maia is a tough opponent. He fraud checked a few guys in cage warriors. My main issue with Mcgrillen is he’s too dependent on his natural abilities. He’s not very technical and just relies on landing that kill shot. His wrestling is unproven too; I only really saw him grapple early in his career and it was against tin cans so hard to gauge. I’m still picking him just cuz he has that “it” factor to me, but I would not at all be shocked if Maia fights a smart gameplan and pulls off an upset. Then again if he tries to start a brawl like he usually does, then he’s getting slept

Why is everyone so high on Connor Hughes, his record is trash and he lost to that 🤡 Dylan Tuke? And now going up against a Spanish grappler? Thanks but no thanks

Don't know much about the Spaniard grappler but Tuke did look pretty damn aggressive and with actual decent mixs ups between his cage control, striking and takedown attempts.
I was not expecting that from a UK guy with that record.

Think Maia has a good chance at upsetting McGrillen here, if he can initiate grappling or get takedowns on McGrillen's left hand set-ups, which often are telegraphed, and keep control from there with some damage. However McGrillen does have a good defensive sprawl, so Maia would need to mix it up and maybe get him a bit tired to complete the takedown, which he can very well do, since he is pretty fast on his feet and a solid calf-kick. Might however be a bit harder to get takedowns because McGrillen is a fair bit smaller and has a good reach, so eventhough its a clear path to victory, I think the fight will be contested mostly standing. McGrillen on the other hand only needs for Maia to be wrong once or slow down and then catch him and it could be over. Interesting clash of styles, should be a good one for sure.
Also funny nobody mentioned Kikadze Bondo calling himself cool and wishing him good luck from his own account.

Maia only has leg kicks and flying knees. Not good when someone crashes the pocket and his cardio sucks. Maia ain't winning this. Also a huge speed and power difference. Don't be fooled by all these guys saying Maia is a good dog. He isn't
