Usyk vs. Joshua 2: Rage on the Red Sea

Eh, it's not like it's a totally new phenomenon. It's more of an extrapolation of circus fights which have always been a thing I suppose. At least it's a step-up from the moderns boxing kangaroos.

Oleksandr Usyk  vs.  Anthony Joshua

I don't think I can really contribute any opinion about this fight that isn't already commonly understood public knowledge. Usyk isn't Ruiz. He's not going to be Bullcaped for twelve rounds at the end of a jab, and Joshua cannot outbox him, he's going to have to go after him and try to land the hard **** that puts him away or steals the rounds. That's a pretty tall order. 

I suspect this time Anthony is going to throw a lot more jabs, straights and shovel punches to the body in the centre and will basically try and never be on the back foot at all. When he had success in the first fight, he was imposing himself. Standing and trading isn't his natural inclination, though. At the end of all things he's a counterpuncher until he lands something that hurts and goes after it, he's not a headhunter, and I don't think Rob Garcia or anyone else can change that. It's likely that all he's being trained to do is walk into **** that is going to get his plug ripped out. 

Usyk claims he's added 33lbs thereabouts. Not sure I like that, because his conditioning definitely tends to dip-off dangerously through the middle part of his bouts for some reason. Adding weight is a crapshoot at HW, sometimes it's great, sometimes it's arse. It's a bold move that suggests to me Usyk really thinks he can put him to bed. Joshua came in light for the first fight. It will be interesting to see if he comes in heavier this time around, which would definitely be a mistake.

Anyway, I hate Toshua and will be rooting for Usyk, who when all is said and done is simply a far better boxer. This fight will be more entertaining than the first, and it's very likely going to end in a finish. I won't count GayJ out. He could hit a finish. But ultimately, I believe in yesterday.

@casual he definitely looks bigger, but not overtly so. Looks better conditioned. Carrying less loose flesh.

Joshua looks slimmed down, which is what I'd expect to see if he's going to go after it.



Also I saw your gran getting her hair washed at the IMO. Had 'Thug life' tattooed on her wrist.
