Alright folks, 

As you might know I'm Tapology Boxing editor. I know the majority of you guys are here for MMA, so was I originally. But for the last year or 2 there is a little more interest in Boxing on the site. 

So here's a place to talk boxing.

Hey Mikey.  I know you don’t pay attention to the influencer scene but was Gareth Morris as bad a ref/judge in the pro ranks as he has been with the influencers?  Cuz he is ******* terrible

I've never heard of that referee???? Doesn't Misfits use PBA to sanction the events because the British Boxing Board won't sanction them as professional fights? I'm pretty sure that's the case. 

PBA (Professional Boxing Association) is basically a step up from White Collar Boxing, I have no idea why they have Professional in their Title??  They have events all over the UK featuring local "tough guys", ex pros who should have retired years ago and now they do whatever this **** is???

PBA has their own referees, judges and other officials. None of them work on British Boxing Board of Control licensed events so I have never heard of him as I've never seen him. 

I'm not surprised he was ****** terrible tho!!!! Ha 

For the UK events yes they use the PBA.  Morris actually used to ref professionally but hasn’t done so since 2015.  Actually all the refs/judges they’ve had reffed pro before but haven’t in awhile.  For the most part the refs and judges they’ve gotten from the PBA have been fine except for this Gareth Morris guy, he’s like next level awful.

Boxing fans don't deserve nice things 

The good fights in boxing never happen. It’s why Fury vs Usyk will never happen

I don't get how these boxing champs fail so much at negotiations, Usyk has plenty of contenders to fight.
Tyson can box Fran Ngan or Jake Paul or Deontay again lol 

It's been a pretty ****** week in boxing so far with Inoue injured and the Fury Usyk ********!!!! 

But on the positive this weekend we have a fantastic fight to look forward to. Leading member of my All Violence Team, David Benavidez (Beterbiev, Lara, Matias are the other members and all 3 have won in brutal fashion already this year!) takes on Caleb Plant. This is a great fight between the no. 1 and 2 contenders at 168lbs (Canelo at the top with all the belts). 
Benavidez is a violent, non stop pressing pressure fighter who throws 6,7, 8 punch combinations and breaks his opposition down. 
Plant is more of a slick, technical boxer with nice footwork and movement and a great jab. He seems to have developed some significant punch power too.  He arguably had the 2022 Boxing KO of the Year with his Left Hook vs Dirrell.
Oh, and adding to the big fight feel we got major BEEF! /!!! Both guys really dislike one another having several altercations going back years. 

I think Benavidez will win this fight probably by late stoppage. But Plant is going to cause some problems 


This entire card is pretty great too.  2 fringe top 10 Welterweights face off in the Co Main, Cody Crowley is favourite but Abel Ramos is better than his record. 
There is a rare battle between young under 23 yrs old, undefeated prospects with Abels nephew 19-0 Jesus Ramos vs 16-0 Joey Spencer. 
2 top prospects coming off their 1st defeats opens the main card. Chris Colbert, who was very highly touted before taking a bad beating vs Tank Davis last opponent Hector Garcia, faces big puncher Jose Valenzuela who is best buds and part of team Benavidez, he fights a lot like Benavidez too.  Like I said both guys are coming off 1st losses so this is do or die. 


Even the prelims have some great match ups, another battle of young undefeated prospects, a top Cuban prospect vs a big punching Argentine hardnut, a possible future Mexican contender vs a Columbian banger and a couple of teenage hyped prospects backed by Mayweather. 

Should be a great night of boxing!  Thankfully the UFC card starts earlier this weekend too so the Chito Sandhagen event will be finished without clashing with the main card action.
