At least 1 of the punches hit Lapicus on the back of the head... I personally counted over 6 punches from Eddie Alvarez.... I think Eddie Alvarez is gonna get DQ'ed... Poor Refereeing instructions to both fighters caused the issue in my opinion... 🤔🧐🤑🥊👊👍💯

Absolute garbage. Alvarez won by tko, defend yourself at all times is the rule. That wasn’t the back of the head, did they let Junior Dos Santos ref the fight?

FistyMcKickerChoke, full respect to you as always and the situation at hand appears unfortunate, especially with how Lapicus tucked his head into his arm guarded position, but several of the strikes were technically illegal blows... There was at least 6 strikes given by Eddie Alvarez to the back of Lapicus' head... Eddie should have held back for a brief moment and continued ground and Pound from directly above, probably with elbows... 💯🤔🧐🤑🥊👊👍

I have to disagree jay, I think those were legal strikes to the side of the head, and the one on the ground that hit the back of his head was because Lapicus turned away. I wish Eddie had just used bjj to style on his ass, would’ve been no controversy. All respect to you too

That was the correct call by the referee. Kevin Bellingon was disqualified for elbowing Bibiano Fernandes in the back of the head when they fought at ONE Championship: A New Era.

Man. I really like ONE particularly in the lower weight classes. I hope they can break into the American market and bulk up their heavier weight classes. There is a good chance that if they can keep their financials in check they can actually compete somewhat with the UFC.

Eddie Alvarez again had a situation similar to what happened in the 2 fights vs. Poirier

In the first fight against Poirier in top position, he kneeled to the head when Dustin was in downed position (it was also a mistake by Coach Mark Henry who gave him that indication). In the rematch the fight had a dizzying pace and when he was again in top position he made the wrong decision to throw 12-6 elbows, Referee Marc Goddard restarted the fight standing up and then Poirier got the knockdown and the finish.

In tonight's fight Alvarez gets the takedown against a fighter characterized by his grappling and although Lapicus turns around exposing his neck to receiving blows, Eddie instead of making a transition and going to side control, full mount or take his back decided throw those punches that mostly landed in the neck and back to the head. It's a mental block situation
