Think the only rap albums I bought this year were Life Is Good, Legends Never Die by RA the Rugged Man and Daily Operation by Gang Starr because my old copy was so scratched up. I've bought that last album like 4 times probably.

God I'm listening to Love Game with Eminem and Kendrick Lamar and I've gotta say...this is ass. I mean it's catchy but it sounds like it belongs on a ******* Mika album. Sigh...
EDIT: Now I'm listening to Headlights with Nate Reuss and this **** sounds like a rapper spitting over "All Alright" by fun. Is this a ******* pop album or something? Did Eminem forget which genre he's supposed to be in?

Anyway back to my Marshall Mathers LP 2 listen and I'm listening to ******* and it ******* clicked. This **** is like Lasers. It's EXACTLY like Lasers. **** Marshall Mathers LP 2, I'm calling this **** Lasers 2.
Eminem, like Lupe, is still a great rapper who is obviously ******* talented and he shows that talent throughout the album. The problem? This **** is chasing pop way too heavily, it's so ******* pop-y. The hooks, the production, the features, it sounds so mainstream. Coupled with the Shady-esqe lyrics Eminem spits and this CD sounds like a confused, bipolar mess of ideas. It's rough and dangerous but it's also ridiculously safe and tailor made to be played on the radio from beginning to end (with the exception of "Rap God" of course).
Eminem's trying to please all of his fans instead of effectively balancing both. I'm so ******* torn on this album, Eminem's rapping amazingly in his verses but the rest of the ******* album is just...ugh...the perfect example of what I'm trying to say is in "Bad Guy". ******* sick rhymes by Eminem but at the same time it's so ******* pop it's unbelievable. I'm bracing myself for the uncredited Gaga feature.

I do not think eminem even writes his own lyrics anymore, he's went from hardcore rap to being a pop star. It's sad but whateva, most artists cannot preserve themselves and either become yesterdays news or sell-out, em sold out.
