I would have liked it a lot better if Lyoto got in a few more wins before he faces Jones because after all his three fights against Shogun and Rampage didn't turn out too well for him even though Machida/Shogun I and Machida/Rampage were both very close fights.
I don't think beating Randy Couture should get you a title shot because in my opinion his last big win was against Gabriel Gonzaga. After that he hung in there with Lesnar before getting KO'd and was dominated by Big Nog. After that he won a decision against Vera which I thought was complete BS and then he got two gimmie fights against Coleman and James Toney.
I do understand the reasoning behind Machida getting a title shot though because he is no doubt one of the top fighters in the LHW division and Rashad is out with an injury, Phil Davis is out with an injury, Henderson/Shogun is booked and unless if Shogun wins I don't know if he will get a title shot so soon because he was completely obliterated by Jones.
Oh well, I'm sure it will be a great fight and very intriguing and I'm glad that Machida gets the chance to fight again before 2012. Someone that talented shouldn't be on the sidelines for that long especially when he needs to get built back up after those two losses.

People tried saying the same thing about Shogun.
And to be honest (and I don't even like Shogun, but I like Machida) I think Shogun's ground game is better.

I don't think Machida's style matches well with Jones at all, the guy that beats bones will come in fast, cut the cage off and keep him backing up on those stilts. It'll be interesting to see if Rashad can hold him down for a few rounds and tire him out, without getting his head kneed off his neck.
