Am I the only person who thinks no one at 170 really looks deserving of a title shot right now? Imo, Woodley, MacDonald, Lombard, all need at least one more solid win before they deserve a shot at the belt. I think Woodley VS MacDonald makes sense for No.1 contender, as well as Lombard VS the winner of Ellenberger VS Saffiedine. I also think Condit VS Maia sounds like a nice matchup. And I know its a looongshot but, personally I'd like to see Lawler take on Matt Brown if Brown beats Erik Silva.

GSP was on the MMA Hour and he doesn't seem like he's close to returning. So I think Hendricks will have to defend at least once before GSP's return.

A fight between Hendricks and MacDonald seems like the easiest title fight to market next. They can promote it as "GSP's protege challenging for GSP's old title."

Woodley and Lombard wont fight each other unless it's for the belt (ATT rule). Because of that they might have to win two or more each to get the title shot. Which is fine. They're both 3-2 in their last five.

I hope Lawler fights Diaz again next. Then hopefully the UFC books the winner immediately against the Hendricks/MacDonald winner (If GSP stays retired). I would like to see Lawler rematch Hendricks then after they both have a win. Of course a fight between Diaz and either Hendricks/MacDonald would be interesting.

- Johny Hendricks vs. Rory MacDonald
- Robbie Lawler vs. Nick Diaz II
- Tyron Woodley vs. Kim Dong-Hyun
- Hector Lombard vs. Jake Ellenberger/Tarec Saffiedine (winner)

Unfortunately for Brown he's kind of out of sync with the rest of the division. It might not matter though, I actually favor Erik Silva in that fight against Brown.

If Diaz wants to earn a title shot, he needs to beat a top ten with top level wrestling. Don't feed him people that will stand and trade with him like in Strikeforce.

Yeah, he needs to. If Diaz can't beat a top ten wrestler, he sure as hell isn't beating Hendricks. They should have Diaz just fight Woodley. Then all of Diaz's talk of fighting for a title can just end now.

Unbeknownst, Woodley & Lombard might both be 3-2 but all 3-2s are not the same. Woodley's 3 wins: Hieron & an old Kos both by KO and Condit with his losses being a close decision to Shields and a KO by Marquardt. Lombard's 2 losses were split decisions to 2 MWs (Boetsch & Okami) while his 3 wins are Palhares at MW and wins over both of the guys to beat Woodley: Shields by clear decision and a KO of Marquardt. And with him being 36 now is the time for him to get a title shot. It would be a fantastic matchup between a 2 time NCAA champ with vicious KO power and an Olympic judoka with vicious KO power. Basically other than finding someone to match up with Shields, there is no bad fights to make between the top WW contenders but that is my perspective.

Idk I think Lombard has shown to be more impressive in the very recent past than Rory.

I'd make:

Lombard vs. Woodley for #1 contender
Rory vs. Tarec/Ellenberger winner
Shields vs. Tarec/Jake loser
Lawler vs. Condit would be hype if Condit isn't out for a while
DHK vs. Brown is he beat Silva

Honestly a great time to be a fan of the UFC's WW division. So deep, so much talent, a lot to be figured out.

Either way probably won't be for awhile looks like Johny tore his Bicep and had surgery, no training for at least 2 months

if that is the case have a WW show down event

Lawler vs Diaz II

Woodley vs Lombard

Rory vs Tarec/Ellenberger winner

if they are on the same card, and who ever wins most dominatly gets the shot at the title since Hendricks is out for a bit.

@hdmexiqtioner We've already seen MacDonald vs. Ellenberger (don't need see that again). Plus we've seen  Woodley vs Tarec. I guess it really matters who wins between Tarec/Ellenberger. Woodley and  Lombard are teammates currently.

I would have said Rory vs Condit II, but I have no idea how long Condit is going to be out for

I'd say right now since Johny is recovering form surgery

Lombard vs. MacDonald
Woodley vs. Kim

who ever wins most impressively gets the next title shot. The other winner could fight Matt Brown/Erick Silva winner or Saffedine/Ellenberger winner for the next shot.

seems like most people agree that he´s two fights away from gold; needs a win against a top 5 guy, and that fight should determine Johnny´s first challenger

I wouldn't say two fights because that would be sad for him, having to have fought 9 fights just for getting a title shot. Even though he hasn't beaten a top ten in his winning streak all of those wins were very impressive and majority of them being finishes. I would pair him up with the winner of Lawler/Ellenberger before giving him a shot. If I really had a choice I would just give him the title shot already but that would never happen for him unfortunately.
