Looks like Makovsky has finally made it to the UFC. I was really looking forward to seeing Dodson vs Jorgenson but this is a good replacement. Makovsky should make a nice addition to the ultra thin flyweight division.

@hiblet, I love that Makovski has been signed but Mighty Mouse, Benavidez, Dodson, Jorgensen, Bagautinov, Lineker, Horiguchi, Moraga, Alp, Mongoose, Formiga, Sampo, Elliott, Uncle Creepy, Cariaso, BC, Ortiz, Benoit ... no longer a thin division ... short, yes, but stacked, imo.

All of these fighters are on the upside of their career too. I friggin' love this division these days. Quality over quantity, I think this is p4p the best division in the promotion. I can see only a max of 3-4 out of the 26 signed fighters that aren't UFC-level fighters.

Plus, with Zach, McCall, Sampo, Montague and Benavidez in there it's also the p4p best nicknamed division too :)

Hell yeah, long time coming.

I'm sticking with my theory that he threw his last Bellator fight to get released and drop to 125lbs in order to get a UFC contract.

this is awesome. With fun size signed UFC now has the top 13 ranked FlyW's on fight matrix  :)  id say that's pretty deep plus Jorgenson and Pickett are not on this list yet.

http://www.fightmatrix.com/mma-ranks/flyweight/

and most of the top 20 is on the UFC or has no need to be in there

#14 Banuelos: already lost to most of the UFC FlyW roster
#15 Yamamoto: looks pretty good , he has a win over Tokoro
#16 Ortiz: signed to UFC
#17 Freitas: was on TUF as a BW, wish UFC would have kept him for this division
#18 Santela: hopefully will be next
#19 Nobre: had his shot and *****ed out
#20 Elliott: signed to UFC

I like this fight better as well. Didn't want Jorgs first fight at 125 to be against Dodson.

when I said it was thin, I mostly meant in terms of title shots. For such a young division with the company, it has been the same list of top contenders the whole time. I think makovsky should be able to mix the division up a little more. It is awesome to see how much this division has expanded in such a short time.

Nice!

They found a great replacement when Ian McCall was injured and another great one now that Dodson is out.

Having good relationships with some of these high-level feeder orgs (RFA, Legacy) certainly has its advantages.

Surprised. Didn't expect them to get a solid replacement like this for Dodson.

Have you noticed how the UFC have made it worth fighter's while to fight for RFA and Cage Warriors these days? They're really showcasing them as their top scouted promotions and openly snuffing Bellator talent which will ultimately bring even better fighters for stints in those promotions ... every European with UFC aspirations will fight for Cage Warriors and RFA has just been feeding the UFC their champions as of late ...

Im glad they found a replacement and didnt trash the fight from the card. But im not excited by the signing. I think makovsky is pretty boring and has reached his ceiling as a fighter.

As someone above mentioned, i would have rather seen AMA product Sean Santella, or one of the 2 highly reguarded brit prospects. Either Pietro Menga 10-0 or Giorgio Andrews 9-0.

Whatevs ACF.

Anyways, agreed @yoss, but you can also add Legacy to that list. They've got a good working relationship with the UFC, which is why prospects like Holly Holms, Robert Drysdale and Thomas de Almeida have signed with them. Santiago also bounced back in Legacy.

I'm interested to see how WSOF fits in. All the talk has made it seem like they could be another great feeder org, but they seem to be on a higher tier than the aforementioned shows, more like a Bellator, but with arguably better talent at the top of some of their divisions.

Wonder if they're really gonna let guys walk after a few fights with them. Idk if they're gonna let champs like Moraes go without a behind-the-scenes battle.

RFA does a great job of showcasing the up and comers. They always are scouting new talent, it seems that's what their mission is. They don't seem to care when the UFC signs their guys. Sort of an unofficial feeder league for the UFC.

Great signing, good for him. I think this is a better first fight at 125 for Jorgensen too.

It's good to see the UFC is finally signing more flyweights. This a very tough UFC debut for Makovsky though, I see Jorgensen dominating this fight.
