He'll probably do pretty well since Bellator's HW division is very weak. Worst case scenario, he loses to Volkov in the title fight.

Kongo also is in the same tournament. Kongo can likely hold Lavar down and GnP him.

The more former Zuffa fighters Bellator signs the more they look like a 2nd rate organization. Especially since a while back Bjorn essentially said that he didn't want UFC rejects. Well here are some Zuffa rejects you've hired:
Cheick Kongo
Lavar Johnson
Rampage
Vladimir Matyushenko
Tito Ortiz
Ben Saunders
Matthew Riddle
Kurt Pellegrino
Marcus Davis
Paul Sass
John Alessio
Diego Nunes
This isn't even counting the guys that were in the WEC and didn't come over or the guys from Strikeforce that didn't enter the UFC.

I think it's a good signing. There are more fights in the UFC that Lavar could have won. Doesn't mean the UFC was wrong to cut him, but I don't look at him as an over-the-hill signing that will damage Bellator's reputation. I think serious MMA fans perceive Lavar as being a legit fighter.

Lavar is going to knock a bunch of people out in Bellator. He'll make it to the final four for sure.

Cheick Kongo vs Lavar would be a good matchup to see

At least MMA fighters don't commit as much domestic violence as football..or do they?

That's crazy, I saw him in the business that I work at in Fresno just a few months back, shook his hand and everything. He was with a woman who I'm assuming was his girlfriend.
In fact I had gotten used to seeing him here and there around town for the past couple of years. Really sad to see this happen.

@zarog
is better to be second rate then no rate. Prior to those signing of ex UFC fighters, no causal fan even know what bellator was for the most part. It might seem more second rate to die hards, but in reality they where completely unknown to casual fans until they started picking up fighters like rampage and others that you mention.
