And he's most likely going to be "in the best shape of his life and has never had a training camp like this one".

I love BJ ... he's one of my all-time favorite fighters ...

... but if he's not going to train and fight in beast mode, please lets stop the suffering ... it was hard for me to watch him against Rory, and they're not going to put him against a can at 155 either.

That being said, if he does go back down to 155, I'd love to see him against Nate Diaz.

I have no idea what to expect from BJ at lightweight right now. Taking that fight with Rory was such a bad idea, and BJ does not respond well to setbacks.
I think we have to consider the very real possibility that our favorite lightweight (well MY favorite anyways) may be in a downward spiral. The worse he loses, the tougher opponent he wants in his next fight to make up for it.  His need to PROVE how good he still is is damning. If instead of insisting on fighters he cant' beat like MacDonald and Fitch, he should be taking manageable fights at 155 pounds. When he does win fights, he looks spectacular doing it. Fighting fights you can't win makes you look worse than you actually are.

BJ is my favorite fighter to ever step into the cage, but i dont know if this is a good idea. We all know BJ and he wont fight just anyone hes gonna want a guy in the top 5 and right now i dont know if BJ could hang in there with the younger guys that have taken that division over.

Haven't seen anyone mention Sherk yet. BJ/Sherk II is a real possibility. Sherk has been out for a while, but he hasn't retired, and he's actually been asking for the BJ fight alot in the last 2 years. Now that he's back at LW, I see Sherk rallying for it.

Whatever happened to Sherk. Hasn't fought since 119. And he won that fight too (technically). You'd think that would have motivated him to get another fight quickly.

I would be real surprised if Sherk fought again. You never hear anything about him now. I think he'll just eventually come out and say he's retired.

Prodigy, this is the one fight that Sherk does want.  I read an article just a couple weeks ago where Sherk talked about this.  Will try to track  it down breaux.

As a huge BJ fan, I think his best shot is really at LW. I think he could make a run if motivated enough (here we go with motivated penn again...)... however, he himself said his daughters were a game changer for him. I don't know how motivated he can get after what he said in that interview.

Well if it's motivated B.J  then lightweight has a nightmare to deal with.  I just hope BJ comes back 100% motivated.

It would be nice to see him earn a title shot win the belt and retire.

If BJ Penn takes **** seriously.. Like VERY seriously for his lightweight return I could see him breaking top 5.

If B.J is Very Serious match him up with someone like Dunham or Lauzon for his first fight back(competitive fight in either of them, and Lauzon and Dunham don't have as large of a size advantage as say if you put B.J with Bendo)

I think if BJ is serious at making another run at the LW title. Nate Diaz, a rematch with Takanori Gomi, Josh Thompson, TJ Grant, or Gray Maynard. Lauzon or Dunham would be good too. Hell, the winner of Cerrone/Dos Anjos would be awesome. ****!!!!! IMO, any fight that has BJ Penn in the mix is going to be a good fight, no matter what. I'd still like to see Jose Aldo vs. BJ Penn!!!!
