He said he would beat GSP. which is funny because he is going to get destroyed by Mein.

Quote:

"Same old GSP, he does the same thing to everybody. They all know what he is going to do, but they still can't stop it. I think I can do what he does better and totally stifle his game. I know that sounds kind of crazy especially considering most of my losses have been by submission and I'm not a big credentialed wrestler. I understand that people will laugh when I say that, but it doesn't bother me, I train with higher level wrestlers than he trains with. I'm honest with myself and I know where I'm at and I know what I can accomplish. I know that I can get there and I can beat him."

Quote:

“For me it’s not just about confidence, I truly know it. I can tell you right now, GSP can’t strike with me. When it comes down to it, he’s going to take you down, maybe punch you a couple of times and keep you down there. When guys like Matt Hughes or Josh Koscheck weren’t able to stop that, then Matt Brown comes along and says he’s going to stop his takedowns, it sounds kind of crazy. It’s just a matter of me performing at the best of my abilities. If I do that I’ll end up beating him.

If they would fight, GSP would obviously win.....via decision.

There should be a movement to get Joe Rogan to ask him about these comments if(when) he loses to Mein, because that would be funny.

Well... I guess if he did beat Mein (i doubt it), then he would be in a spot for a contendership fight since he is on a 4 win streak at the moment. I guess he's just got it in his mind because he feels he's approaching a title shot

Matt shouldn't look ahead of Mein, he just finished Dan Miller who is a proven tough fighter to finish and he Mein did. I think it's a huge mistake on Matt's part to do that and it could cost him in the fight.

Good to see he's confident he can beat GSP, but confidence won't win him the fight and GSP would likely beat him in a fight.

It's not like the UFC has a shortage on people who sincerely believe they can beat the champions in their divisions.  Some even think they can beat champions in more than one division.

But believing is not doing.  The over-whelming majority of even extremely excellent fighters have not been able to dethrone the champions.  But it is well that they thought they could.  That confidence helped them be better fighters.

There are dreams men must follow and there are dreams men must wake up from.  And only the wise know the difference.

So far, Anderson Silva, Benson Henderson and all the WW division want GSP's scalp on their Totem Pole.  GSP must feel extremely WANTED.

The way I look at comments from Weidman and Brown is pretty simple.

What are they supposed to do? Say

"Holy ****, you're telling me I'm fighting the Spider? **** me I'm screwed, I wont last one round with him"

"Well crap, Dana says I'm gonna fight GSP next. I'm not looking forward to being wrestle****** for 25 minutes. There's no way I can win."

Of course they're going to try to convince you they stand a chance. If they don't, no one will watch the fight.

and lol at JM getting suspended again.

Completely true. but the thing is, Brown isn't even in contention, nor has he ever beat anyone close to the top ten, yet he's talking about beating GSP, the most dominant WW champion of all time.

and then add the fact that he's about to face a killer in Mein who has a very good chance of beating him, well then his quote just becomes downright absurd.

I personally have no issues with a fighter believing he can beat anyone in the sport.

What would you have him say?

"Eh, well I'm just in this to fight a few fights and make some money. Can't beat GSP, he's a god, and Diaz? Well, I can never beat him, have you seen how he fights? And what about that Hendricks left hand, damn, I could never beat him"

And how about Matt Serra saying he could beat GSP? What were you saying then? Ridiculous, right? Bigfoot thinking he can beat Overeem?? Hell no!! Little Frankie Edgar believes he can beat the legend BJ Penn??? What the **** is that all about?!?!

Personally, I think Mein trumps him, but I wouldn't want any UFC fighter entering the cage without the complete confidence he can beat anyone in his weightclass.

If Matt Brown was so confident why was he calling out Dan Hardy? If he believes he's as good as he says he should be calling out a fringe top 10 guy to prove himself. Not Dan Hardy. As far as GSP/Brown it wouldn't matter where the fight took place. GSP would probably alternate between rounds beating him up standing one round then take him down the next round and beat him up there.

Comparing Weidman saying he will beat Silva to Brown saying he would beat GSP is crazy. Weidman has a much much better chance of succeeding then Brown.

Personally I love a bit of self confidence. Considering Matt Brown isn't known as Mr Charisma its good to see him putting himself out there more than just relying on his pretty intimidating (imo) look.

If it helps him get a shot at the title then regardless of skill level there's always a chance to cause an upset with one good shoot.

Matt probably got a little drunk and thought, "Hell, if it worked for Ali and Sonnen, why not me?"

But then he sobered up and went, "Holy ****!  What the hell have I done?"

Everyone's calling out GSP and wants to fight him because he's the biggest PPV draw and everyone wants to make as much money as they possibly can make headlining a PPV with GSP which makes perfect sense.

The Decision would end the Immortal's life.

Matt Brown's hillbilly boxing and Mc-Jitsu would have no chance whatsoever.

As for people saying 'what else should he say' how about nothing at all? I rather a fighter not have fake confidence and just be real, like a Costa Phillipou.

People bringing up Chris Weidman are foolish, the difference between Brown and Weidman is that Weidman's comments are completely real and he honestly believes he will decimate Anderson Silva, like Chael Sonnen did.

Matt Brown just comes across as fake in that quote. He's got a padded win streak (that's right, he's beaten two bums, a hasbeen and the worst wrestler in UFC history) and all of a sudden he thinks he's better than GSP? ****outtahere.
