Ariel Helwani ‏@arielhelwani

Dana just said Aldo told him he is refusing up flight Pettis because he doesn't think he deserves it.

Ariel Helwani ‏@arielhelwani

Dana said Aldo will fight Pettis or he's not going to like the way this turns out. He's absolutely refusing right now.

But Edgar did ... right?

Maybe Aldo is sick of the 55ers dropping down and getting an immediate shot when a guy like Lamas is unbeaten at FW and has recently beat the guy everyone is saying is the #1 contender in Cub Swanson

You seriously think Aldo's acting as Lamas or Cub's advocate??

There's a different reason ... I seriously doubt it's fear of fighting Pettis ... but I don't think he's getting into this "war" with the UFC on Cub/Lamas' behalf ...

It's something else ... time will tell ...

Who gives a damn, cmon people. Pettis would get beat by any dominate wrestler at 145 or 155. That's why Pettis wants to jump to the title shot right away because he doesn't want to get Guida'd again. Mendes, Lamas or Edgar would take down or outwork Pettis and send him back to 155 and also, Aldo would knock him out. Get over it people, the champ doesn't have to fight any guy who calls him out, this isn't street fighting.

Although I'd love to see the Aldo/Pettis fight at some point there is no way he deserves a title shot at FW right now. Dana White saying that "they are out of their ******* minds" for saying "he may be the top guy at 155 but not at 145" is stupid considering he hasn't had a single fight at FW. I don't get how they keep giving guys who haven't fought in divisions in years if ever title shots, especially when there are lot's of legitimate contenders in the divison. On top of that the Pettis/Henderson rematch is a fight everyone wants to see, I want to see it way more then Aldo/Pettis, and it makes way more sense.

I would have no problem with Aldo wanting Pettis to get some wins at FW if he hadnt just fought Edgar

If Pettis were champ, I would have no problem with the fight. Guys like Lamas, Swanson, and KZ should get the shot first. If Pettis really wants to fight Aldo, I say give him one fight at FW before he fights Aldo. That would be the most fair method.

I would rather see Pettis/Bendo II. Pettis has a better shot at beating Bendo than Aldo, IMO

I guess I can see the logic of their argument, but it still seems like Jose might be a little scared

I don't think he's scared. Edgar was a worse matchup for Aldo than Pettis, especially seeing how all bets are off when Frankie's fights go to decision.

Anyone remember that Dana is a pathological liar? I'm reserving judgement on this until Aldo releases a statement.

As much as I dislike Aldo after the way he point-fought Edgar, I completely agree with his point. No way Pettis should get an immediate title shot at 145. I said this from the first moment I heard the rumor. Edgar deserved it because he got screwed, and even then he had to get lucky with the injury situation.

It's plain nonsense. Only a current champion should be considered for an immediate title shot when changing weight classes.

I'd rather see him fight bendo anyway.. What was the reason for abandoning that match up in the first place?

@StealingFire If you dislike someone for one fight you aren't a fight fan or ever were a fan of his (or anyone you hate after one fight ffs)

@zarog in response to your sig, if there was a god it wouldn't want its creations to fight at all or have fighters...at least the "loving" god of christianity you probably believe in... or zeus, whatever, they're all mythology

@p4pgoat

How do you know GSP would have dropped the issue? And when you described his greatness and prior amenability, weren't you also describing Jose Aldo? To a tee?

Never said anything about hating anyone. I dislike Aldo because he didn't fight like a champion and because I'm an Edgar fan. I pretty much reserve that right without having to endure senseless ridicule from someone who knows nothing about me.

Why are you attacking a member for a sig?  What sense does that make?  If you don't believe in God, keep that to yourself and keep the forums on topic.
