You just beat a opponent who was on a 15 fight win streak....at the BIGGEST UFC event of all time..... in front of your HOME crowd of 55,000 screaming fans!
Then you're asked if you want to fight the(arguably) GREATEST p4p fighter in MMA history in the ABSOLUTE BIGGEST fight in MMA history and your answer is.............I don't know?!.... Maybe we'll sit down and talk about it?!
Really?

GSP came into this fight overlooking Shields even tho he wont admit it. Dana White shouldn't give him Silva they will both be too tentative to engage it won't be a good fight. 5 rounds of lnp or 5 rounds of silva dancin around the cage. It'll be another poor performance. Give him Nick Diaz win or lose he'll make GSP fight or leave town without the belt

I love Nick but he'd get laid on for five rounds. Andy/GSP is much more interesting, more variables to consider.

I really think Anderson would make quick work of GSP (within 3 rounds). Every time GSP gets "hurt" or has a problem, he shuts down. He won the fight, but looked bad. I don't think he should move to 185 at all. Maybe a super fight at catchweight, but I don't think it would be a good career move for him at all. I'd give Diaz the next shot, expecially now, and let the WW settle in the mean time to figure out the next #1 contender.

I dont know why everyone is complaining so hard about last nights fight. I enjoyed it. Gsp couldnt see from one of his eyes. That takes away your depth perception, a very important part of striking!! Why would he play to jakes strengths when his stand up is vastly superior? Gsp did exactly what i thought he would last night outside of using that looping right hand instead of his jab. To everyone complaining, cover your left eye and try to use a speed bag. As for the anderson silva fight, im against that fight whole heartedly. Gsp isnt long enough to implement a good game against someone as fast and accurate as anderson silva. I think that both bj penn and jake shields and maybe even fitch would be more entertaining fights against anderson. gsp would have a short round as anderson landed on him and then put him out. If it didnt go down like that it would be more like the cote fight except gsp doesnt have cotes power.

I simply rely on GSP's opponents to hype of the fights at this point because I do not look forward to seeing GSP fight anymore. He's incredible, but he's just too unwilling to take risks. When GSP landed that head kick and Shields went down I thought for sure we'd finally see a finish, but he simply let Shields recover. Was nothing like the way he reacted when he landed that head kick on Hughes.

The heights were bogus again, Sheilds was clearly more than one inch taller than GSP, and where does this 6'2 for Couture come from, the guy isn't even 6'0. GSP fights the best fighters in the world every time, he can't be expected to dominate these guys all the time, point is he got the win again, he's not finishing no, but nobody is finishing him either.

I give him some slack since he has been fighting top competition almost his whole career but so has every other champion and other than Edgar they all finish fights regularly

Answering the original question here, it's obvious that apart from continuing to win, GSP is clueless from a marketing perspective. I agree with some commenters that he's probably tentative about the fight because it keeps getting cast as a move up to Middleweight and a fight for the MW belt. I'm not sure I understand why it couldn't just be a five-round catchweight fight, or even Middleweight fight but not for the belt. Still, I agree that a MASSIVE opportunity was missed.

@raray whats the point of a non title fight between champions. One loses and it takes away from the legitimacy of the belt.
