Rewatch it, he was 100% out on the way down. At first I thought it was bad too because when he hit he still had a hold of the single leg and started to drive. Slow motion replay showed that the next to last right hook Filho threw put Rua out cold. Rua's arms just stiffly slid down Filho's body, he came back to, and grabbed a leg. Sorry, but that's what happened, and that was a 100% justified stoppage.

Ninja stood against the cage while Filho threw wild right hooks. One at the beginning hurt him, a few others just grazed wildly, and then one hit the chin which put the ninja out. He fell down, came to, grabbed Filho's leg, and Yamasaki waved it off.

Looks to me like Yamasaki was on the wrong side...it looks like Ninja is out when he goes down for the leg from Yamasaki's angle.
