I've seen BJ Penn go up and down with his performances over the years, but Rory's consistently been getting better each and every fight.  I'm also a huge fan of Rory so this is an easy pick for me to make.  I just don't know whether or not Rory will be able to finish BJ.  Highly doubt it.

Yeah he does get a surprising amount of hate for such an exciting, talented, and respectful young fighter.  I think a lot of it stems from these ridiculous steroid accusations that keeps getting thrown his way.  He also angered a lot of BJ Penn fans by calling him out, even though the UFC urged him to do it.  If anything BJ Penn fans should be thanking Rory for luring him out of retirement.

I don't see any aspect of MMA where Rory is technically better than Penn, but Rory's youth, size, cardio, and aggression might be too much for BJ to deal with regardless.

I don't pick against BJ though.  Just scrap!

Rory wins this by being far more athletic, far more hungry, and frankly, a far more well-rounded plan of attack.

The result of the fight is less important to me than what happens afterwards.

The most important aspect of this fight to me is that BJ doesn't retire afterwards, regardless of what happens in the Octagon.

BJ remaining active is the most important factor to me, by far.  I do hope he returns to LW.  I just don't think he fares well in the WW division, even though his sojourn there is what made him a historically important to the sport.

I agree with the house that Rory will be a mediocre match for him to take but I think we all give him crazy, mad love for the chutzpah in accepting such a tough, terrible assignment.  Who would have thought this one would have had such allure to entice him?  But that's what makes me love BJ.  He has the  balls to take the hard ones.

Like Randy Couture asking for Lyoto Machida, or Chael Sonnen asking for Jon Jones.  Damn I love this sport!

BJ is training with Ben Askren, so at least he should be used to being held down by a talented wrestler.  Hopefully he can do something about it.
